"Right… if you're sure…" Melissa sighed softly, kissing the top of his head.
"Right… if you're sure…" Melissa sighed softly, kissing the top of his head.
"I'm sure…" He replied, his voice a bit muffled in Melissa's shoulder. "Are you okay?"
Melissa shrugged, resting her head against his. "Still feeling meh…" She mumbled, pulling his hand close.
"Mm… anything I can do to help?" He asked softly. "I can… uhm… I can try to do whatever you need me to do."
"No, I'll be fine… I really don't know what you could do to help." Melissa whispered in response, fiddling with her hair with her free hand.
Lucas sighed a bit and nodded, holding a little tighter to Melissa. "Alright… let me know if there's anything I can do."
Melissa leaned into him, resting her chin on the top of his head. "Alright… I'll let you know…"
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas allowed himself to relax a bit. He kept his face hidden for now, but he seemed to have calmed down somewhat.
Melissa kept quiet after that, sinking into her thoughts. After a while, she had grown pretty distracted, staring off into the distance.
Lucas just let her be quiet, figuring that she needed some time to think. "I love you…" He whispered after a while.
Melissa didn't move, or react, just continued to stare out. She was completely lost in thought, a tired look pulling on her face.
"Mel?" Lucas glanced up at Melissa, clearly a bit worried. It wasn't like Melissa to just not react.
Melissa took a moment before glancing over to him rather confused. “Huh? Did… did you say something?”
"Yeah… I told you I love you and you didn't reply. You alright?" He asked gently.
“Oh. I love you too,” Melissa hummed, kissing his cheek with a weak smile. “I’m alright. Just distracted.”
"By what?" Lucas asked softly, holding Melissa a little tighter.
Melissa shrugged, resting her head against his shoulder. "My thoughts, I guess. Nothing important."
"Well, your thoughts are important, and you're important, so… what's up?" Lucas asked.
Melissa looked back up at him, sighing softly. "It's really nothing, Lu. I promise you."
"Are you sure? I wanna make sure that you're okay…" Lucas nuzzled against Melissa softly.
"I mean, I think so… if there is anything, I'd rather not talk about it right now." Melissa whispered, kissing him.
Lucas sighed softly and nodded. "Alright, Mel…" He murmured. "Whatever makes you comfortable…"
Melissa looked up at him once more, and sighed softly. "I mean… if you really want me to tell you, I-I guess I can…"
"Not if it makes you uncomfortable, Mel…" Lucas replied, his voice quiet and gentle.
"It won't make me uncomfortable… I just- you're going to yell at me for this- but I don't want to bother you…" She whispered in return.
"Melissa, I'm not gonna yell at you for anything. I promise you… I love you, okay?" He asked.
"I… I love you, too…" Melissa sighed weakly, burying her face in his shoulder. "I know you wouldn't ever yell at me, I just… y'know."
Lucas nodded a bit, gently running his fingers through Melissa's hair. "You don't have to tell me if you don't wanna."
Melissa curled up even closer, holding onto him. "I-I don't even really know what I'm thinking about, anymore…" She mumbled with a weak sigh.
"Mm…" Lucas kept petting Melissa gently, closing his eyes as he huddled closer.
