She stayed next to him, but grabbed the remote.

He smiled lightly at her.

She smiled sweetly back.

He held her close. "You think your roommate is gonna be alright?"

”I hope so. I’ll definitely keep an eye on her, make sure that she'll be ok.” Jade assured him. ”I know that a… well, a lot of people don't react well to being in an encounter with a villain.”

He nodded a little. "Mhm. It wasn't me, though. For one thing, I don't wear capes unless it's a fashion statement. Like for pride month." That had really pissed some people off. The underside of his cape had been the LGBTQ flag, which had caused…quite an interesting reaction from the press.

She laughed a little and nodded. ”I remember that one. I think you got a lot of fans because of it.” she admitted, though there was no doubt that there was an equal amount of haters because of that statement. Personally, Jade had no judgment against the LGBTQ+ community. It just wasn't the lifestyle for her. Sophie however, was much more… liberal and even flirted with just about everyone.

He shrugged a little. "Hey, when even the people breaking the law support something, it's a statement. And I've always had fans. I did gain some from that, but I also lost some." He laughed quietly. "Shoulda seen some of the articles online saying I was a villain because I'm not straight. Now those were… interesting." He shook his head slightly.

”It definitely was.” she chuckled with him. ”Though, if you don't mind me saying this… I thought… Well, I did appreciate the cape. But I found just the tiniest hint of irony in your statement.” she admitted with a soft blush, hoping she wasn't being offensive. She frowned slightly at his last comment. ”I honesty wouldn't be surprised if some of those articles were written by homophobic people.”

"Of course it's ironic. Half of the things I do are ironic. And…yeah, they definitely were. It's just weird, you know? My sexuality and my…villain-ness exist independently from each other. One doesn't cause the other. And it's just…weird, for people to try and equate the two." He ran his hands through his hair. "I don't know."

She nodded and leaned against his shoulder. ”I understand. I may be hetero personally but… If I wanted to, I could easily be a villain too.” she said, trying to be comforting. ”It’s probably just an old-world belief back from when being with someone of the same gender was illegal.” she offered as an explanation, though that didn't mean that she thought it was right.

He nodded a little bit, holding her close. "Yeah, I know it is, it just…it sucks that people still have to put up with hate just because of how they love. Like…like I'm not a good person so maybe I deserve that hate, in some way, but there are plenty of LGBTQ people who don't deserve it at all, and…" He trailed off, shaking his head. "Sorry, I'm starting to get…I don't know. Starting to rant a little." He laughed softly.

”Wonder what would happen if I started advocating for LGBTQ…” she said softly before looking back up at him and shook her head a little. ”It’s ok, Killian. You're not really ranting… Besides you are right. It's just not right that people still have such a hard time over this.” she agreed with a soft smile. ”I will have to disagree with you on one point though… You don't deserve to be hated. You may be a villain but you are not a bad person.”

He shrugged a little. "I don't know what would happen, if you did." He said slowly. "And…yeah. Thanks." He smiled a little bit at her.

”You’re welcome.” she smiled gently back and kissed him. ”I guess there's really only one way to find out. The question just becomes how to make a statement without a complete overhaul of my costume…” she chuckled softly.

He laughed softly. "Hmm. True." he smiled at her a little. "I'm not sure."

She shrugged a little with a playful smile. ”Something for me to think about I guess. In the meantime, the news should finally be on.” she commented lightly, clicking the remote.

He nodded, kissing her cheek softly and then turning his attention to the news.

Jade smiled softly at the kiss and leaned into his side as the news anchor came on screen.

”Repeating the latest hero story; earlier today, there was a brief but destructive skirmish between the aquatic heroine, Cascadeia, and a previously unidentified villain, now recognized as Star Piercer.”

Killian frowned a little. "That's…quite a name." He said softly.

Jade nodded a little. ”Yeah… Guess they really wanted to sound intimidating.” she suggested.

”The explosive villain was leaving a path of destruction with his ability to create and channel combustible blasts through his body, before Cascadeia intercepted near a local gym. Now, we do have some amateur footage of that fight…”

He watched the footage, frowning a little.

Despite the usual chaos of a fight, the video was caught by someone with fairly steady hands and captured bot Star Piercer and Cascadeia on the screen… Until the heroine got thrown out of frame, crashing into the side of a building. Star Piercer had a wild glint in his eyes with equally wild hair that was slightly singed at the tips and a ragged looking cape, like it had been caught in a fire.
Cascadeia managed to get up, but there was a gash down the side of her leg. Her long black hair was damp, most likely because of her power, and her suit was similar in appearance to a wetsuit but not quite as bulky and sort of an aquamarine/sea green in color.

”Well, she's certainly trying a little too hard to stick with the water theme.” Jade commented, watching the fight just as intently as he was.

He hummed faintly in agreement, eyes narrowed as he waited for the fight to end.

Cascadeia summoned water to her side and quickly threw it at her opponent, pulling his feet out from under him. Though it didn't last long as Star floated back up and stayed in the air, laughing at the heroine. Cascadeia made a wide arch, creating a wave over Star Piercer, intending to knock him back to the ground. Unfortunately, for her, he noticed it and charged at her and dislocated her arm.

He was silent as he watched the video.

Gritting through the pain, the aquatic heroine flipped Star Piercer over her shoulder and slammed him on his back, effectively knocking the wind out of him. She then wrapped his hands together with her water… Which almost started to freeze as a type of handcuff, but it quickly reverted back to liquid though it maintained its shape. The police arrived shortly after and took the dazed villain away.

He was quiet, shifting a little when the video ended.

Jade hummed thoughtfully, making a mental note to keep an eye out for the explosive villain, and looked over at Killian. ”Are you ok?” she asked, noticing his unease.

He nodded a little bit. "Yeah." He replied.
