A light smile pulled up, and she shook her head a little. "Besides telling me that you love me, and hugs, not really. I just have a feeling today isn't going to be all that great."
A light smile pulled up, and she shook her head a little. "Besides telling me that you love me, and hugs, not really. I just have a feeling today isn't going to be all that great."
"Well, not with that attitude it won't." Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "Cheer up, love. The day's only as good as we make it."
"But I honestly don't feel like being happy. I'm kinda drained, to be honest." Melissa insisted, giving him a soft look. "I dunno why."
Lucas sighed softly. "Well, I wanna try and make you happy, then. Being drained sucks."
"And how do you plan to do that?" Melissa asked softly, seeming genuinely curious.
"Well, I dunno… compliments? Going places you like? Where do you wanna go, darling?" Lucas asked.
Melissa let out a weak laugh, resting her head against his shoulder. "I dunno… I'm really bad at making decisions."
"Mm… but I make all the decisions~" Lucas whined softly, gently kissing Melissa's cheek. "Isn't there anywhere you'd like to go?"
"I really don't know, Lu…" Melissa insisted, looking up at him. "I mean, probably the clearing…"
"Let's go to the clearing, then." Lucas took Melissa by the hand and started leading her along.
"Wait- Lu," Melissa laughed weakly, pulling him back. "I don't even have shoes on."
"Well, go get them!" Lucas laughed as well. "Go grab what you need and meet me back out here."
"Alright, alright." Melissa sighed weakly, giving him a half smile. "I'll grab Cody, too."
"Alrighty." Lucas sat down on the front steps to wait for Melissa to return.
Melissa was in and out in five minutes, leading Cody by his leash. "You ready to head out?"
"Yep!" Lucas took the leash from Melissa so he could hold her hand as they walked. "We should get there pretty quick…"
"Mhmm…" Melissa nodded some, taking his hand. She laced her fingers with his, giving him a gentle smile.
Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek again as he walked, humming softly to himself. "I love you~"
Melissa glanced over to him, returning the kiss. "I love you, too…"
Soon, they reached the park and Lucas led Melissa through the forest, smiling gently when he saw the clearing.
Melissa sighed softly as they got closer, resting her head against him. "It's been forever since we both got to come here…"
"Yeah… I've missed this place." Lucas sighed happily as he flopped down by the willow tree.
Melissa gave him a soft look, slowly sliding down next to him. "I bet… it's been way too long…"
"Mm~…" Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder as he looked around. "Have you missed it too?"
"Yeah, I have…" Melissa whispered, keeping close to him. "I tried coming once or twice, but it felt… empty, without you here. It wasn't the same at all."
Lucas nodded a bit, seeming to be pretty content and relaxed as he looked around. "It's great to be back…"
"Mhmm…" Melissa mumbled, kissing the top of his hand. "I love you…"
"Love you too…" Lucas returned the kiss and huddled a bit closer for warmth.
Melissa sighed softly, wrapping her arms around his waist. She kept quiet, just taking in the scenery around them.
Lucas didn't want to close his eyes. He wanted to take everything in. He let Cody off of the leash so he could run around a bit.
