She smiled back and slowly sipped her drink.
She smiled back and slowly sipped her drink.
He watched her, still a little worried.
”Sorry about that.” she sighed. ”Sophie’s story brought too much mental stimulation. I'll be ok.”
"It's alright." He said softly.
She looked down, a little unsure about something… but she had to ask. ”Killian… I know you’ve been with me for… a while. But… I… I want to trust you…” she stammered.
He frowned a little. "What…what do you mean?" He asked slowly, studying her.
Jade refused to look up at him, both embarrassed and a little ashamed. ”Despite the number of times we’ve… fought, your magic is something that I've never been able to fully wrap my head around.” she tried to explain. ”I don't think it was you… You don't even wear a cape often… I just…. I just like being as certain as I can.”
"Jade. What are you asking me?" He asked, pretty sure he knew, but wanting to be sure.
She steeled herself and closed her eyes. ”I know you can make illusions of yourself. But they're never anything more than… smoke, I guess is the best word I can come up with. I don't think I’ve ever seen them use your magic…” she sighed again. ”If you say that it wasn't you, that maybe someone was imitating you or maybe Sophie was mistaken, I’ll believe you. I just want you to tell me the truth.”
He sighed faintly. "It wasn't me. I've been here the whole time, and doing that sort of illusion would take a lot more concentration than I can give right now."
She nodded as the tension left her at his words. ”I believe you.” she said sincerely, though now she felt bad for accusing him like that. ”I’m sorry…”
He shrugged slightly. "It's fine." He replied. "I would have asked too, if I were you."
She chuckled a little, shaking her head before leaning against him. ”I appreciate that… but how can you be so calm and forgiving about that?” she inquired softly.
He shrugged a little bit. "It was a valid question."
She sighed, relaxing a little more. ”Thank you.”
He kissed her cheek softly.
She smiled softly at the kiss, though found it a bit ironic that he could forgive her so easily but… Well, she supposed she always thought of him as more the type to hold a grudge. Then again she hadn't actually seen much evidence of that.
He probably would have held a grudge, if it weren't for the fact that he knew she knew Sophie better than she knew him, so of course she would trust her friend's word.
She sighed softly and leaned against him, glad that he could be so understanding. ”I wonder who actually attacked the gym…” she muttered.
"I don't know." He replied, frowning a little bit.
She hummed a little. ”Think it's too early to check the news on that?” she asked.
"Maybe. We can check."
”Well, we obviously missed the ”breaking news” on the incident.” she shrugged. ”And it usually takes about an hour to get the recap… So, thirty minutes left…” she muttered softly.
He listened to her, raising his eyebrows faintly.
She looked up at him and blushed when she saw his expression. ”Sorry. I’ve actually timed the news on this before.” she admitted.
He laughed a little. "Ah, of course."
Her blush darkened at his laugh, though she couldn't help but smile softly at him.
He kissed her cheek softly, still smiling a little.
She squeaked a little, caught off guard by the gesture though her smile grew.
He chuckled, wrapping his arms around her.
