Jade blushed a little at her roommate’s insinuation. ”We’re talking about you, not me and Killian.” she reminded firmly.
”Yeah, yeah. At least he's not so touchy.” Sophie quipped. ”Any I was at the gym today, you know, watching buff guys show off… And showing off a little myself.” she smirked in her usual way.
”Soph…” Jade warned, her blush darkening.
Killian waited to hear the end of the story.
Sophie rolled her eyes, finding Jade’s attitude prudish. ”The point is, some villain blew out the side of the building. I think it was Hex… I’m not sure.” she paused thoughtfully, looking away for a moment. ”Anyway, I twisted my ankle because of the explosion and my clothes caught on fire so I just grabbed what I could and headed home.” she sighed.
Killian coughed awkwardly. "You sure it was Hex?" He asked, looking up at the ceiling for a moment.
”No… I just saw some guy flying past with a black coat or cape or something.” she shrugged, wincing almost instantly at the gesture.
Jade scowled thoughtfully at her roommate. ”When did this happen?” she asked since Killian had been with her for a few hours at least, so unless his magic allowed him to be in two places at once, not counting his illusion, to an extent where his double could actually use his spells… Plus, the gym Sophie usually went to was only ten-fifteen minutes away.
Killian was quiet, unsure, but let Jade do the questioning.
”Maybe thirty minutes ago.” Sophie answered a little unsure. ”I didn't have a chance to look at a clock. It all happened so fast.”
Jade nodded briefly, trying to keep her relief to herself until she and Killian were alone… Though he would have to answer a couple questions as well. ”Ok… What happened to your arm?”
Sophie sighed, starting to get frustrated. ”I landed on it wrong when the blast knocked me off my feet.” she growled slightly. ”Look, Jade. I know you're fascinated by heroes and villains and the fights they get into but trust me, there’s nothing fascinating about people getting thrown around like a ragdoll.” she glowered. ”Now, if you don't mind, all I want is a couple Aspirin and a hot bath. Is that a problem for you?”
"Is your arm broken?" Killian asked, raising an eyebrow. "Or sprained? If it is, you need medical attention."
”No. It's not broken.” Sophie sighed and shook her head, not looking at him. ”And I don't need to go to a hospital. It's just… It’s nothing serious.” she said sincerely.
Jade was honestly a little taken aback by Sophie snapping at her like that. She was usually so chill… It did make sense that she was shaken up by what she’d been through but something about her rant wasn't quite adding up.
He frowned a little bit. "Alright. If you're sure." He realized it was a bit hypocritical of him, when he himself was injured, but still.
“I’m sure.” Sophie nodded. ”I just need to rest and relax for a while.”
He nodded a little bit. "Okay."
”I’m sorry, Soph.” Jade sighed, rubbing her forehead. ”I was just worried about you. I didn't mean to upset you.”
Sophie nodded and gave a small smile back. ”It’s ok. I didn't mean to snap at you… I’m just stressed out and in a fair amount of pain.” she chuckled. ”Are we ok?”
”Yeah… We’re ok.” Jade agreed. ”You know where the Aspirin is. Enjoy your bath.”
Killian was quiet, not interrupting them.
”Thanks.” Sophie smiled with a bit more of her usual pep before she started heading towards the bathroom. ”See you in an hour.” she smirked.
Jade chuckled at the remark and sat back down, still rubbing her head.
Killian looked at her, sitting down as well.
Jade waited until she heard the bathroom door click closed before she curled up in pain, clutching at her head.
He stared at her for a moment, unsure what to do.
(Gtg)
(Ok. Good night.)
Jade had her eyes closed tightly and her breathing was heavy… She was having another of her attacks.
He bit his lip, putting a hand on her shoulder.
She shuddered a little at the touch but didn't pull away.
He didn't really know how to soothe her, so he just kind of sat there, waiting.
She took several deep calming breaths as she slowly came back out of her overactive mind and placed a hand on top of his.
He waited, biting his lip faintly.
”Thank you.” she whispered hoarsely, but glad that it was over for now.
"You're welcome. Do you need anything?" He asked.
”Water would be nice.” she admitted softly.
He nodded, getting up and getting her a glass of water. He handed it to her gently.
”Thank you.” she said, accepting the cup and resisting the desire to swallow the whole thing.
He smiled a little. "You're welcome."
