"Like you just said, the past is in the past. It's over and done with now." Mr. Brennahan shrugged.
"Like you just said, the past is in the past. It's over and done with now." Mr. Brennahan shrugged.
"I guess so…" Lucas toyed with his hair a bit. "I do wish I'd told you, though. Then I might not have even wound up here."
Mr. Brennahan looked back at Lucas, giving him a soft look. "Did you even know, Lucas?"
"I think I did?" Lucas sighed. "I could tell that they weren't working, but I figured I just wasn't used to them yet since I've never used antidepressants before, you know? I didn't necessarily know they were the wrong ones, but I could tell something wasn't quite working…"
Mr. Brennahan listened in silence, letting the younger male talk. Sighing weakly, he nodded. "You can't really blame yourself then, can you? You didn't exactly know what was going on."
"I guess… I feel like I still should've told you, though. I didn't want to trouble you any further, but I guess that backfired, didn't it?"
"Maybe just a little bit." He chuckled softly, bobbing his head some. "But everything is fine now. You're coming back home, and you're doing a lot better."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I hope I don't do anything like that again… I honestly couldn't control myself at all."
"Well, you're on the right meds. Cody will be with you, hopefully able to snap you out of it if you do. And if not, he'll come get me or Melissa."
"Yeah… I've been training him, so he should be able to help me out if I need him to." Lucas smiled weakly.
"Well, that's good. We can always train him further, if need-be." Mr. Brennahan smiled in return, turning into their neighbor hood.
Lucas nodded a bit. "I think with the training he has now, I'd be allowed to bring him to school with me in case anything happened there…"
"I'm sure we could work things out. I've been meaning to go up to the school office, anyways." Mr. Brennahan hummed, clicking his tongue. "We can go sometime next week, if you'd like."
"Sounds good to me, sir… it would definitely be good to bring him if I can. Um… I've… I've hurt myself at school before, so…"
"Then we'll really have to fight for it. I'm sure they'll let Cody stay, if he's well behaved." He nodded a little, pulling up to the house.
"Yeah… he's a good boy. Hopefully I won't need him to be there, but I like to have the reassurance…"
"Of course, I understand. Better to have him there, and not need him, then to need him and not have him there." Mr. Brennahan smiled, turning back to the two.
"Mhmm." Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder and kissed her cheek softly.
Mr. Brennahan gave a softer smile, starting to get out. Melissa stirred some, mumbling as she curled up closer. In the short time they had been driving, she had nodded off at the sound of their voices. Now she didn't want to get up.
"C'mon, Mel. We're back home. Gotta get up." Lucas slipped out of the car and started tugging on Melissa's hand gently.
Melissa groaned, unbuckling herself. She was still tired, numbly making her way out of the car. "I wanna sleep…" She rubbed at her eyes when she was out of the car.
"C'mon, Mel. I'm back home! Let's go be excited and like… I dunno, do normal people things." Lucas shrugged a bit.
Melissa yawned, looking up at him with a tired face. "Napping is normal people things…" She mumbled, wrapping her arms around him.
"I wanna do something fun! Wanna build a snowman? Have a snowball fight?" Lucas sighed, still trying to pull Melissa out. "Aren't you excited?"
"Get me coffee, and we'll talk." Melissa mumbled, sliding out of the car. "Mm, or, though I don't really mean it, drop snow down my back."
"Why are you so tired, Mel? Didn't you sleep last night?" Lucas asked curiously.
"Yeah, I dunno why I'm sleepy…" Melissa mumbled, yawning once more. "I just need a few minutes. We can do anything you want, then. I promise."
"Alright…" Lucas sighed and flopped down in the snow with Cody, starting to make a small snowman.
Melissa laughed weakly, coming up behind him. She ran her fingers through his hair, watching him start playing in the snow. "Aren't you cold? Don't you want a coat, or some gloves?"
"Shhhh. I'm having fun." Lucas stuck his tongue out a bit as he worked. "I haven't been outside in ages."
