"Mhmm, we can put pajamas on, too." Melissa hummed softly, keeping him close. "It'll be pretty late, but if there's anything you want to do before we go to bed, we can. Maybe we could build a fort in my room?"
"Mhmm, we can put pajamas on, too." Melissa hummed softly, keeping him close. "It'll be pretty late, but if there's anything you want to do before we go to bed, we can. Maybe we could build a fort in my room?"
"Sure… if you wanna." Lucas yawned a bit and sighed. "We gotta have dinner first, though… maybe we can make popcorn…"
"Maybe," Melissa replied softly, resting her head against his with a soft sigh. "I'd say we bring Cody up, but I don't think he'd like the fireworks…"
"Yeah, probably not…" Lucas hummed weakly as he hugged Melissa. "He doesn't really like loud noises."
"Most dogs don't." Melissa hummed softly, nuzzling again him. She kissed his forehead, leaning up against him. "It doesn't surprise me that he's not different."
"Mhmm…" Lucas weakly returned the kisses and huddled closer. "I love you, Mel…"
"I love you, too…" Melissa replied in a soft tone, running her fingers through his hair again. "Are your meds helping at all?"
"Mm… I think they're helping a bit…" Lucas leaned into Melissa's hand a bit.
"You definitely seem more relaxed." Melissa commented, gently nosing against him as they sat there together.
Lucas nodded, content to just let Melissa dote on him for a bit. "A little, yeah… still a little jittery though."
"Understandable." Melissa nodded, cuddling up even closer. She buried her face in his shoulder, kissing his shoulder. "Anything I can do to help?"
"What you're doing is pretty good, Mel… sorry for getting so worked up over this…"
"Don't worry about it. It's been a long… stressful couple days." Melissa insisted softly, sighing weakly.
"Yeah…" Lucas sighed a bit as well. "It's been a lot to deal with, huh?"
Melissa nodded a little, numbly staring at the empty fireplace. "Yeah…" She whispered, still running her fingers through his hair.
"Hopefully I'll be okay when we head back to school… I'm gonna have a ton of work to do."
“You’re not gonna stress yourself out too badly, are you? You need to make sure to take breaks.” Melissa whispered, glancing down at him.
"I'll try not to, but no promises… it's gonna be a lot, Mel." Lucas toyed with Melissa's hair a bit, clearly nervous.
“I know it’s a lot.” Melissa whispered, letting him play with her hair all he wanted. “But I really don’t want you to stress too much over it. I want to help you when I can.”
"I know, I know… it's just… it's gonna be hard." Lucas sighed. "I missed so many lessons, Mel. I won't even know how to do the homework."
Melissa let out a soft sigh, kissing him again. "I know, love, but I can help you as much as possible. We're at least in a couple classes together. And, well, we should be learning about the same things. Even in classes we're not in together."
Lucas nodded weakly. "Hopefully I won't need to get tutoring or anything… that would cost more money than we have at the moment."
Melissa pulled back a little, running her thumb over his cheek. "You're smart, Lucas. I'm sure you'll be able to figure things out for the most part. And, well, I'm… I'm sure we could work something out, if you did need it."
Lucas shrugged a bit and leaned into Melissa's hand with his eyes closed. "I'm just hoping I'll be able to catch up before school ends…"
"I'm sure you'll be able to." Melissa whispered, kissing his forehead. "It'll be a lot of work, but like I said, you're smart. You should be able to."
Lucas laughed weakly. "I'm really not all that smart, Mel…" He huddled a little closer to Melissa.
“I think you are. Maybe you’re not a genius, but you’re pretty smart in my opinion.” Melissa whispered, nuzzling against him.
"Mm… I'm really not all that special, darling… it's definitely going to be hard to catch up…" Lucas sighed.
"And I'm not saying that it won't be, but I'm saying you're smart. You'll be able to figure it out, despite what you think." Melissa insisted, kissing his forehead.
"I guess…" Lucas nuzzled against Melissa's cheek a bit. "I'm not looking forward to it."
