"Jobs? With an 's'?" Melissa asked softly, looking up at him. "I thought you only had the one?"
"Jobs? With an 's'?" Melissa asked softly, looking up at him. "I thought you only had the one?"
"Well, I was the assistant baseball coach, and I also worked at that little flower shop occasionally." Lucas shrugged.
"Wait- really? I didn't know that…" Melissa trailed, resting her head back against his. "When did that happen?"
"Huh… I thought I mentioned it to you." Lucas hummed softly. "Started working there soon after the baseball thing. Where did you think the bouquets of flowers were coming from?"
Melissa shrugged a little, smiling softly. "Dunno. I guess I thought you went and picked them. Or, y'know, just went to buy some."
"I guess." Lucas shrugged as well. "It was easy work and a pretty easy way to earn a little extra cash."
"Well, they were all gorgeous." Melissa hummed softly, smiling a little. "I should look into something to earn a little extra, too…"
"Glad you liked them, Mel. You're welcome to find another job if you want, but I wouldn't want you overworking yourself."
Melissa nodded a little, pulling her legs up to her chest. "I'll try my best, love." She mumbled with a light smile.
"Sounds good." Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "But yeah, hopefully they'll take me back… I was a pretty good employee, after all."
"Mm, I bet you were…" Melissa trailed, her smile pulling up at the kiss. "I can always go talk to them, while you're here…"
"You can if you want to, Mel." Lucas smiled gently. "I'm sure that it would be helpful… you know the addresses, right?"
"Umm… I think so." Melissa nodded slowly, curling up closer to him. "Is it close to the movie theater?"
Lucas nodded a bit. "Yeah, it's across the street from there. And the baseball thing is just at the elementary school."
Melissa nodded as well, smiling weakly. "Alright, that should be easy to remember." She hummed a bit.
"Mhmm. Thanks so much, Mel… I love you." Lucas smiled and kissed Melissa gently.
Melissa smiled as well, kissing him in return. "I love you, too… I've missed you…"
"I missed you too, Mel… have you looked at your Christmas drawing yet?" Lucas asked curiously.
Melissa nodded once again, lifting her head off his shoulder. "Yeah, I loved it. Thank you, love."
Lucas smiled and kissed Melissa again. "I'm glad you liked it, Mel. I brought mine with me so I could open it with you." He grabbed the bag and started pulling out the tissue paper.
Melissa nodded a bit, pulling back to give him some room. In the bag was a variety of things. Though most of them were smaller. "Um, it's not exactly all from me." She explained, so he wouldn't argue about it.
Lucas smiled as he pulled the items out. "Mel, you really didn't have to do this… you and whoever else was involved. But thank you."
"Your team wanted to pitch in. Like I said, a lot of them miss having you around." Melissa shrugged a little. The bag had a lot of cards, Lucas's name written on most of the envelopes. There was some sweets, and pictures mixed in. "Oh- and um… the kids miss you, too."
Lucas read through the cards given to him by the little league baseball team, a gentle smile on his face. "Well, you'll have to tell them that I miss them. And that I plan on being back soon."
Melissa smiled in return, resting her chin on her knee. "I can do that… The look on their faces is gonna be priceless…" Melissa mumbled a little, still smiling.
"Mhmm~" Lucas hugged Melissa tightly. "I love those kids. I hate that I had to leave them for so long. They don't even know what's going on."
"It's probably better that way… it could scare them if you tried to tell them what was going on." Melissa mumbled, leaning into the hug.
"Yeah. I'll need some kind of story to tell them to explain why I was gone for months…" Lucas sighed softly.
"You could be vague. They're not very old, they won't ask too many difficult questions." Melissa offered in a soft tone. "Then you're not straight up lying to them."
"I guess so… I could just say that I got hurt and then had to be in the hospital for a while, I guess?"
