"Where did my baby go!?" Melissa laughed, starting to scratch under his chin. "He needs to stop growing up. It's not fair."
"Where did my baby go!?" Melissa laughed, starting to scratch under his chin. "He needs to stop growing up. It's not fair."
Lucas laughed softly as well and Cody stuck his tongue out sleepily. "He's still little. Just a little awkward and lanky."
"But he's not a puppy anymore. He's not the baby." Melissa hummed, smiling softly.
"Nah, he's still my baby." Lucas hugged Cody close to himself, still smiling. "He'll be my baby even when he's an old boy."
"I meant he doesn't physically look like a baby anymore." Melissa laughed softly, standing up to kiss Lucas. "He's getting bigger so quickly."
"Yeah, puppies do that." Lucas returned the kiss with a soft hum. "They grow super fast. How old is he now?"
"I don't really know… a couple months, at least. Not a full year yet." Melissa hummed, petting Cody tenderly.
"Yeah, definitely not a year… five months, maybe? I don't feel like doing the math right now, to be honest."
"Mmm, me either. I have enough of that to do already." Melissa joked, holding onto one of his hands.
Lucas laughed weakly. "Yeah… I haven't done any homework in ages. Obviously I've been missing lessons."
"You can't exactly help that, can you?" Melissa hummed a bit. "You haven't been allowed to leave in a couple months."
"Yeah, true…" Lucas sighed a bit. "I just know it's gonna suck when I get back."
"Hey, maybe you'll be back before major testing. You'll have to do the homework, but you won't be stressed about finals." Melissa shrugged.
"Hopefully…" Lucas sighed weakly and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "Definitely gonna need your help. You've been taking notes, right?"
“Yeah, to my best extent.” Melissa smiled softly, sitting back down. “I’m trying as hard as I can.”
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas kissed Melissa on the cheek softly. "I know that it's a lot of work for you." He smiled weakly.
“It honestly makes it easier on me later. It’s just a lot in the moment.” Melissa shrugged, smiling softly.
"True… I'm still sorry you gotta do so much for me." Lucas hummed softly as he kissed Melissa again.
Melissa smiled softly, reaching out to hold his face. "You don't need to worry about it. It's just a little extra 'side quest'." She joked a little.
Lucas laughed weakly. "Yeah… guess it is." He rested his head back on Melissa's shoulder. "I love you…"
"Mm, I love you, too…" Melissa hummed, resting her head against his. "How have you been, the past couple days?"
"I've been okay… I think they might let me out soon, actually. I'll still need to take my meds and stuff, but at least I'll be out."
"Wait- really!?" Melissa grinned, looking up at him with a hum. "How soon?"
"I-I dunno for sure, but I'm really hoping it'll be soon. I might even be home for your birthday." Lucas smiled gently.
"Really?" Melissa asked softly, her face lighting up a bit more. "You really think you might be?"
Lucas nodded a bit. "Obviously I'll have to continue seeing both a therapist and a physical therapist for my wrist, and the meds thing, but… yeah."
Melissa grinned, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I mean, you'll be home. Isn't that the important part?"
"Mhmm. And I'll get to start going to school again… it'll still be a while til I can get back to playing baseball, but hey…"
"You can always hand around practice. Though that might be to tempting…" Melissa mumbled, scooting closer to him.
"True… I'd end up downplaying the injury just so I could join in and we both know it. Maybe I can get my jobs back…"
