"Good… I'm glad he's been a good boy." Melissa whispered, smiling softly. She was scratching behind Cody's ears, humming to herself.
"Good… I'm glad he's been a good boy." Melissa whispered, smiling softly. She was scratching behind Cody's ears, humming to herself.
"Mhmm…" Lucas gently pet Cody as well, humming softly to himself. "He's been great. Super easy to train, too."
“He really is a good boy, isn’t he?” Melissa hummed softly, resting her head against him. “Mm, well he’ll have to have a treat when you both get home.”
Lucas nodded a bit. "I give him lots of treats, big I'm sure we can get him something especially special."
"Mmm, don't they have special dog ice cream? If so, I think we should get him some when we go out." Melissa hummed, still smiling softly.
"Oh, I think so! I'm sure that Cody would like something like that." Lucas smiled a bit brighter.
Melissa nodded a little, leaning over to kiss his cheek. "Mmm, well we'll have to do that. He deserves an extra special treat."
"Mhmm. He's such a good boy. I'm really lucky to have him here with me…" Lucas sighed. "Thank you, Mel."
"For what, Lu?" Melissa asked softly, glancing up at him. She gave him a soft smile, still petting Cody.
"Well, you are the one who got me Cody, and got him trained as a therapy dog, and brought him here for me, so…"
Melissa's face grew a soft pink as she shook her head, burying it in his shoulder. "It's not a big deal…"
"It is a big deal, Mel, and I wanna thank you for it." Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek softly.
"No it's nottt…" Melissa whined softly, curling up closer on his lap. "I don't want it to be a big deal…"
"Why not? You did something big for me and I want you to know how much I appreciate it."
"Mm, I don't know… I just don't want it to beee…" Melissa continued to whine softly, face buried in his shoulder.
Lucas sighed softly and rested his head against Melissa's. "But you don't know why you don't want me making a big deal of it?"
Melissa hesitantly nodded, still curling up with him. "I- I yeah… I just don't…" She mumbled, her hold on Cody loosening a little.
"Okay…" Lucas pet Cody gently and fell silent to allow Melissa to relax. He closed his eyes and huddled a little closer.
Melissa kept quiet, resting her chin on his shoulder. “I love you…” She mumbled softly, nosing against his cheek.
"I love you too, Mel…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and rested his head against hers again. "So much…"
“I don’t want to leave…” Melissa whispered weakly, holding onto him a little tighter. “I want to stay…”
"I know, Mel… I don't want you to go either. But… you'll come back soon, right?" He asked. "So it'll be okay…"
"Yeah, but it's not soon enough…" Melissa mumbled, pulling back some to look at him. "Even if I come tomorrow, I've got the rest of the day to deal with…"
Lucas sighed softly. "I know, Mel… when's the next time you get to talk to your therapist?" He asked.
Melissa shrugged a little, starting to play with his hair. "After Christmas, for sure. I don't really remember exactly when."
Lucas nodded a bit and leaned into Melissa's hand. "Alright… do you think that it's helping?" He asked.
Melissa shrugged once again, still playing with his hair. "I guess so… I've only gone like twice, though."
"Yeah… I think it'll help you. I'm not sure you'll need drugs since it's not as severe, but talking to someone who can tell you tactics to better deal with your problems is helpful…"
"You'd know better than I would." Melissa mumbled, starting to curl back up next to him. "I don't think I need any drugs… I honestly don't want to have them…"
Lucas nodded a bit. "Yeah… they're a bit complicated. You gotta take them at the same time every day usually. And the side effects can be real bad if they're the wrong meds for you…"
