Melissa nodded a bit, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "I mean, the way my paycheck keeps rolling in, we might be alright."

"I guess so… I wish I was still able to work." Lucas sighed softly. "Hopefully they'll let me come back once I'm out of here…"

"I'm sure they will. It's not like you had a choice in the matter of coming here." Melissa hummed a little. "If you explain your situation, I doubt they'd deny you."

"Hopefully you're right…" Luca held tightly to Melissa's hand. "I need to be able to make some money when I'm out. I might have to wait on getting back to work until I'm done with at least most of my makeup work.

"Mhmm. We don't need you stressing out over everything all at once." Melissa smiled softly, holding on the same. "We can slowly work through everything."

Lucas nodded a bit and sighed. "I'm sure I'll figure out out, right? But it's definitely not going to be very fun…"

"I'll be right there with you. I'll help you get back on your feet." Melissa insisted, giving him a soft look.

"Thanks, Mel… it's definitely gonna hurt after being here for months." He sighed softly. "Especially without the lessons…"

"I'm sure it will… but I've gone every week, so I can help you as much as possible. Or- we could always try to talk to different teachers, and figure something out with them." Melissa offered.

"Yeah…" Lucas ran his fingers through his hair and closed his eyes. "We'll figure it out. I'll be expected to get it done regardless of my situation…"

“Mhmm… but right now, you don’t have to do it. So instead of trying to figure it out right now, let’s enjoy the time we have.” Melissa hummed, smiling softly.

"Alright, Mel." Lucas kissed Melissa softly and sighed. "I love you so much… I've really missed you."

“I’ve missed you too… I hate that I couldn’t come see you. I really want to make it up to you…” Melissa whispered with a weak sigh.

"Mm… and how are you gonna do that?" Lucas asked, smiling softly up at Melissa as he kissed her cheek.

"Umm… visit you more often? And… well, what would make it up to you? Anything?" Melissa asked softly, her face lighting up at the kiss.

"I dunno, Mel. I think seeing you is enough for me." Lucas smiled softly. "It gets dreadfully boring and lonely here without you, darling."

Melissa's face grew pink, and she laughed softly. "I'm probably not much better, is it? I mean, all we do is talk." She insisted, gaze flicking down to her lap.

"And I really value being able to talk with you, Mel. I love you, and you connect me to the outside world. If you didn't come in to talk to me, then how would I know what's going on with you guys?"

"I-I guess you wouldn't…" Melissa sighed softly, keeping her gaze off of him. "I just… I dunno, I feel like it's not enough. Like I could do more for you."

"This is plenty, Mel. I really do enjoy talking to you." Lucas smiled weakly. "Don't stress yourself out over it."

Melissa flicked her gaze up to him, smiling weakly. "Isn't that my thing? I thought I was the one to tell you that." She joked, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "Well, it's my turn to say it since I'm already on meds for it. You really don't need to worry so much."

Melissa gave him a soft look, sighing a little. "Alright, alright… though you of all people should know it's not that easy."

"I know, I know… but you gotta try, Mel. I'm really not bothered. I swear." Lucas held a bit tighter to Melissa's hand.

"But it's hard, Lu… my first instinct is to worry about you. I can't just shut that off…" Melissa whined weakly, sighing.

Lucas smiled weakly. "I know, Mel… I promise it's okay though. There's no need to be worried."

"You sure? If you're upset with me, you can tell me. I can try harder to come more often." Melissa insisted in a soft tone.

"I'm honestly not upset with you, Melissa. I'd love to see you more often, but I know that you're busy and I'm not gonna fault you for that."

Melissa sighed weakly, nodding a little. "Well, I'll do everything I can to come see you more. Like I said, I'm on winter break for a couple weeks."

"Alright, Mel. I'm looking forward to it." Lucas smiled again and gently pulled Melissa down to kiss her.
