"Humans definitely do deserve it," Lila agreed with Faye, "But I wouldn't go to that extreme. That just doesn't seem right."

Faye sighed softly and let her shoulders slouch slightly. “I really wish things had turned out different, for everyone,” she said in a softer tone. She she meant it, too. If the wars never happened, maybe things could have been better between humans and monsters.

"I wish that to," Lila sighed. Then maybe should wouldn't feel like such an outcast. Maybe she wouldn't feel the need to try and be equal to everyone.

“Anyways..” Faye said, wanting to get away from the depressing topic. “Think you’re going to try and get to the South Sector again?” She asked, glancing over at Dax.

"I don't have the slightest idea on where to go, so for now I'll stay," Dax shrugged.

Faye nodded in understanding and gave a slight area. “We’ll make sure you get there.”

Calla smiled, "I know. How long has it been since you were born?"

Ronan leaned his elbows against his knees. “Around three years now, I believe. I’ve seen my fair share.”

"Three years. That must be a lot of marks. I've only been around for 8 days." Calla reached out, touching air instead of Ronan's face.

“Yeah, a lot,” Ronan echoed. Truth was, it would be a lot if he hadn’t Fallen sometime two years ago. Now, he had only 743 crosses. They still managed to trail up both arms, both his shoulders, collar bone, neck, and part of his back.

"You're going to keep me safe, right?" Calla looked up at what she decided was him, but was actually the wall, lips pressed into a thin line.

Ronan reached out and placed a hand on the side of Calla’s face, turning it so she faced him. “Of course I am. I will always protect you,” He said in a soft tone.

"I know." she shifted towards him, giving him a hug. "But how long can we stay here without people finding us? There's the matter of food too." Calla's face went pale. "I heard about a couple of Sunai's who were caught and flayed alive while on a burning stake. Would they do that to me, Ronan?"

(I have decided that Ronan's nickname that Call will use is "Ronana")

Ronan remembered hearing about the murdered Sunai. They had been chained in iron, their instruments taken from them and broken. They had been starved, and they Fell. When a Sunai Falls, they are very powerful, but their bodies become much more fragile. He remebered that they were stabbed with iron immediately in front of a crowd, then burned so they were no more. He wanted to shudder at the horrifying thought. “I won’t let them. I swear that I will never let them have you, Calla,” he murmured, gripping the young Sunai tightly in his arms.

Calla had never felt so safe. "I love you, Ronana." she buried her face in his chest, curling up to get warm and closing her eyes.

Ronan stayed where he was sitting on the cot, letting Calla rest against him as he held her. “I love you too, Calla. Rest up, and we can feed once you’re up,” he murmured softly.

"Okay." Calla leaned against him and started to fall sleep, closing her eyes, and dreaming about HUGE teddy-bears that came with big houses.

Ronan tilted his head back to it was against the wall. He rubbed at the nape of his neck, tracing over one of the many crosses on his throat.

Calla was dreaming about a big house, where she had a lot of friends, and a lot of HUGE teddy-bears and not parents, oddly enough. Ronan and Avi had taken the parent's place, watching over her as she ate too many chocolates.

Lila nodded with Faye, "We'll get you to where you'll be safest."

Faye gave a hum and yawned a bit, covering her mouth with her hand as she did so. “How long do you both think we should stay here for?” She asked.

She had finished both guest rooms by now. One needing a simple dusting, the other, taking a bit longer. Being in Calixto's old room made her emotions go everywhere. She was angry that he left without a decent good bye, worried he wouldn't make it to the south sector, and sad that she had lost a friend. Karina wouldn't be lonely with Faye, Lila, and Dax living with her now, but she still was struggling with his absence. Taking a deep breath, she finished making the air mattress, and headed back down the stairs to the others.
"As long as you need to. I'm all finished upstairs, if you guys wanna claim rooms," she said, thinking of herself when she first moved into the quaint home. It was always the best part about moving. From then on, it took a bit of getting used to. Looking at Dax, she stated, "And just because you're a Malchai doesn't excuse the fact that your a person too. No way that any of you are sleeping on the floor."
She felt the need to clarify that. When first meeting Calixto, he had simply sat on the ground, and tried to fall asleep sitting up.

Sitting against a tree in the forest, he sat and ate an apple to attempt to solve his hunger. It tasted kind of sweet, but odd. It wasn't as good as the food Karina used to make.
Mentally slapping himself, he told himself to forget her. She wasn't any of his concern any more.
After the light snack, he stood up, trying to find the exit to the south. Somehow in the back of his mind, he knew he wouldn't find it. Why was he doubting himself so much?
Looking up at the sky, he noticed it was becoming darker.
