Halm looked down at Nix, offering a small smile.
"Hey there," he said softly. He rubbed Nix's head a little.

Nix smiled tiredly and purred, leaning into Halm's hand with his eyes closed. "G'mornin~…" He murmured softly.

"Good afternoon," Halm corrected, smiling a bit. He kissed Nix's head lightly, continuing to rub him.

Nix huddled closer to Halm, nuzzling against his chest affectionately. "You smell nice~…" He purred.

Halm smiled softly.
"Mm, thank you~" he wrapped his arms securely around Nix. This was better.

Nix nodded a bit, shifting his legs to be more comfortable. "Where are Cas and Zachary?" He asked.

"They're in Cas's room," Halm said. "Oh think they're cuddling too." He smiled.

"Mm… can you tell with your weird 'claimed telepathy' thingy?" He asked.

"I could, but I'm just guessing." Halm chuckled softly. He sat up just a little, rubbing his back.

Nix nodded a bit. "Do they seem happy?" He asked gently. "I know you can tell that much."

Halm nodded.
"Yeah, they…" Halm trailed off a bit. "Zachary said a word!"

"W-What? How do you know?" He looked up, curious and a bit surprised. "What did he say?"

"Zachary just told me when he noticed I was looking," Halm said. "He said… 'love.' Of course." Halm chuckled a bit. He was happy for Zachary, he really was.

Nix smiled brightly. Even if he wasn't the biggest fan of Zachary, he couldn't help but be glad he was recovering some. "That doesn't surprise me. W-Well, the speaking thing does, but not the word he chose…"

Halm nodded.
"Yeah. I… Honestly didn't think he would speak for a while." He shrugged a little, kissing Nix gently.

"Me either. I'm sure Cas is excited about it." Nix softened a bit and huddled closer to Halm.

Halm shifted a bit, arms around Nix's waist.
"Yes, very." He smiled. "I'm glad they're having such a good day."

Nix nodded and nuzzled against Halm's cheek, purring contentedly. "Especially since Cas had such a rough morning."

Halm nodded.
"With the progress Zachary is making, Cas probably shouldn't have another episode like that again." Halm nuzzled Nix back, letting out a soft sound.

"Here's hoping, hmm? How should we try and help them both learn how to read? And me as well, I guess, since I don't know how either."

"Well, the best way we can really do is start with the basics. You and Zachary will have to learn the alphabet. That should help Cas feel better, because he already knows that. Then, we'll move on to really simple kids books." Halm let out a soft sound.

Nix nodded a bit. "Are we sure that Zachary doesn't know how to read?" He asked. "I mean… he seems to be all there mentally."

Halm shrugged.
"Even if he does, doing this will help Cas. And he'll still have to relearn how to write."

"Alright… we have to make sure that Cas doesn't feel dumb. I don't want him to be upset."

Halm nodded.
"That's really important, yes. You and Zachary can help with that." Halm let out a soft sigh, rubbing Nix's back.

Nix nodded a bit and arched his back when Halm pet him, purring softly. "Mm~… Cas is almost a bit proud, if that makes sense? We do not want him to feel dumb at all. He'll get really upset."

"Yes, I've noticed. I don't want Cas to get upset. He had to deal with enough already." Halm gave a small smile, continuing to pet him.

"Mhmm… he really does. I just want him to be happy, master…" Nix murmured softly.

"I want him to be happy too," Halm admitted. He held Nix close, closing his eyes a moment. "This is going to be tough."

"Mhmm…" Nix yawned a bit and nuzzled against Halm. "I feel like we always knew it would be, though."
