Lachy nodded a little, drawing circles on the mattress of the bed, "So not as long as some of us in here," He replied, "I feel like everyone in here says something similar, that their powers were scary at first but when they got to know their power it wasn't so bad."
“Yeah…I tried to hide them for as long as I could until I accidentally snapped on some guys from school.” Aidan spoke up softly. “What about you? Your powers are pretty cool. I bet it was terrifying when they first developed.”
He swallowed, "I found out about them when I was just getting into my teenage years. It was scary as anything and I couldn't even hide it," He sighed through his nose, "I… I can't even use all aspects of my powers. I'm not strong enough and.. and I dunno.. I guess I'm just too scared to even try." He admitted.
“You’ll probably learn to use them more over time.” He reassured. He didn’t know why he felt the need to always make sure that Lachy was happy. It was weird..really weird. He pushed the thought away, that was too much deep stuff for him to unpack right now. Especially since they just got out of the testing, he was exhausted.
"I'm happy with just the light part. Everything else can stay unlearned." He mumbled. He climbed under the covers, the thin sheets providing at least a little bit of extra warmth in the cold room, "We should probably get some rest." He said quietly, glancing towards Aidan for a moment.
Realizing that the conversation was over now, he nodded, getting under his own sheets. He continued to stare at the ceiling though, just thinking things through. Today had been a very eventful and unusual day. He knew tomorrow would probably be even weirder. After a bit, he’d finally close his eyes.
Lachy was out like a light fairly quickly, the events of today making the small male more exhausted then he had been before which was an achievement. The night seemed to pass uneventfully, there were a few muffled screams through the halls but it wasn't an unusual sound if you'd been there for a while. Soon, the little sunlight that filtered through the bared windows finally showed.
Aidan had slept like a rock. He woke up after the sun had been up for about ten minutes. He yawned widely, stretching out his joints. But he refused to get up just yet. He looked over to see if his roommate was awake yet.
Lachy was just starting to stir when Aidan woke. He still had his eyes closed, obviously refusing to wake up just yet. However, it didn't work too well, and a moment later he was blearily blinking his eyes open with a whine.
As soon as he saw Lachy’s eyes open he smiled softly. “Good morning sleepyhead.” He said quietly. “Ready for another day of hell?” He asked sarcastically. He hoped they wouldn’t be called in again today, but knowing their luck, they probably would be.
Lachy, for some reason unknown to him, felt his cheeks heat up and he hid his face under his pillow to hide it, "No. I wanna go back to sleep." He whined, curling back up under the covers. He didn't want to face the rest of the day.
“Don’t we all. I plan on staying in this bed until they make me get out of it.” He grumbled, rubbing his eyes tiredly. “I think they’re not letting us get enough sleep on purpose, you know, so we’re less stable and can’t put up as much of a fight.”
"They'll probably make us get up for the slop they feed as for breakfast," Came Lachy's muffled reply from under the pillow, "Not that anyone eats it, probably another tactic so we don't fight back."
“Oh yeah it’s definitely another tactic to keep us from fighting. They’re definitely going to force us out of bed and I’m not looking forward to it.” He sighed, covering his face with his hands. “I really do hate it here.”
Lachy hummed his agreement, peaking his head out from under the pillow so he could look at the other. His hair was a mess covering most of his face but he didn't care, "I hope we get out of here soon… I don't know if I could stay here any longer."
“Same…I just hope they decide to leave us alone for today. But they probably won’t.” He replied. He rolled over in his bed, whining softly. “How’d you sleep? Any nightmares or anything?”
He sighed softly, shaking his head, "Not tonight," He said softly, "Not that I can remember, anyway," He sat up, yawning and rubbing his eyes with the back of his hands, "You?"
“Nope. No nightmares or dreams. I miss having dreams, I’ve barely had any in the nine months I’ve been here.” He frowned a bit, his forehead crinkling. He attempted to run his fingers through his hair, his fingers getting caught on a few tangles that he quickly tried to get rid of.
"I'd rather have no dreams at all then nightmares," Lachy replied, looking down at his crossed legs, "Mine didn't stop when I came here," he shrugged, "It's not like I'm not used to them, I just wished they would stop."
“Honestly same. I’m sorry that you have nightmares. Nightmares suck.” He could hear the other teens starting to wake up as well. He sighed. “They’re probably going to come force us out of bed now.”
He looked towards the door, then back to Aidan before down at his lap, "Why can't they just leave us here? Or let us go? We're not going to do anything." The doors started to open in the hallway, the whispers of the teens starting to echo through the halls.
He shrugged. “I don’t know how it even got this bad in the first place. I mean sure, there were always places like this, but there were never this many people in them. And then as soon as the whole power thing started, it got worse. It gave them a real reason to lock us up.”
"Me neither." The door to their room opened and one of the guards barged in, grabbing Lachy by the arm and pulling him out of bed and into the hall. He turned to Aidan, ready to do the same.
Aidan wanted to be a bit of an annoyance today and made the guard physically drag him out of bed. It was pretty much the only form of rebellion he could do right now.
Lachy stayed by the door until Aidan was out, wanting to walk with him to the dining hall. The guard walked away once they were both out of the room, going to do the same with another two teens probably.
Aidan sighed, flipping the guards off once they couldn’t see him anymore. He walked over to Lachy. “Well, let’s get going then I guess.” He yawned again, looking absolutely miserable.
As the two headed into the dining hall, there seemed to be a higher buzz of activity and gossip then normal. All if not most, talking about one thing: A rebellion. That the prophecy was starting to come true. The younger ones seemed to believe it, however the older teens thought it was just a rumor.
Aidan eavesdropped on a few conversations as he got his food. The possibility of a rebellion was very interesting, and brought him a bit of hope. But it still seemed unlikely. As soon as he sat down with Lachy, he decided to bring it up. “Soo..what do you think about all this prophecy and rebellion stuff?”
Lachy shrugged a shoulder, sitting down across from Aidan and picking at his food, "I mean it's a good way to give hope to everyone in these Facilities," He said, "If there is going to be a rebellion.. I just hope we get out but the whole prophecy thing.. who do people even know it's being fulfilled? Are they tracking the people? How do they even know?"
“Yeah that’s what I’m wondering too…and how did people even find out about all this rebellion stuff in the first place?!” He let out an aggravated sigh. “None of this makes any sense.” He aggressively poked at his food. “And what is this whole prophecy thing?”
