Connor giggled nervously.
”I… I don’t drink alcohol,” he scratched the back of his neck nervously before turning the other way and turning back.
”I’d appreciate the talk though,” he added as they both neared Evelyn’s ex-lover’s place.
”Around here?” he asked, looking around.
"That house there." She pointed to a small two story house in the middle of suburbia. "See the side window there?" She pointed to the right side of the house. "That's his room. Little sisters is right across the hall from his. His parents room is at the end of the hall. Right below his room is the family room, which connects to the dining room, which connects to the kitchen, and that connects to the TV room. It's interrupted by the stair case right in the middle of the house. The one that leads upstairs and the one that leads to the basement. It isn't well furnished in the basement but it's well lit. No good hidey holes really." She shrugs. "Oh and pretty thin walls too." She said with a nod.
Connor, whilst listening, was examining the routes around on his own. Not all killers worked the same way so his path would indeed be a bit different from the rest. Now, the thin walls would prove to be a bit of a problem… however…
”Do you want the kill, or do you just want him dead?” he asked, tapping his chin with his index while looking down the road. There was a police station just down the road. If they were going to make their escape, it should be quite fast.
"I think it's only right I be the one who kills him since I am the one getting vengeance. If it was just another kill, I'd let you have it, but this is personal." She shrugged.
”Fair enough,” Connor stated.
”Well, it would be logical to do the old climbing trick… but let’s see,” he looked around, mostly for routes to use to get up on said building without a lot of people noticing.
”You know any buildings that can be climbed around here?” he turned to ask Evelyn.
"I got a chick hold on." She called someone and put them on FaceTime. "Star. I need to get into that window there. How do I do it parkour master?" "Is there any apartments?" "We're in the middle of suburbia." "Okay. See the house there that just got the new deck? Shimmy your way up onto that roof and trust your jumping skills from there." "Thanks Lala!" She then hung up. "Well. Ya heard her."
(Ah!!! Sorry!!!)
”Well? What are you waiting for, me knocking him unconscious so you can kill him easily?” he asked, more of a joke than anything really. Pinpointing mentally where the ‘parkour master’ had stated were quite essential. He narrowed a bit though when he saw how large the gap was between the roof of the recently prepared house and the target’s house. He, not being a parkour lover, didn’t exactly think of the best immediately.
"Well. No. Just thought I'd have you go first so when you fuck up I can be sure to NOT do that. But I guess it's as they say, ladies first. Surprised you didn't ask about Starla, or worry about her. I'll tell ya this, we both do shifty shit so we have a mutual agreement. We can ask whatever we want but no details. Keeps us both outta trouble." She walked over to the house and looked up. "Shoulda brought a ladder, maybe some rope to help. Oh well." She then began to climb, and was up on the roof with ease. "Whatchya waitin' for Con Man?" She called out before taking a few steps back and doing a running jump, landing on the edge of the targets roof, and climbing up.
Connor rolled an eye at the girl’s attitude. Whoever the hell she thinks she was, he clearly didn’t like how she was presenting herself. He followed her steps almost perfectly except for the jump to the target’s roof. Thankfully, his athletic skills back in the days were still holding just fine, allowing him to make the jump relatively simply… even if his face said otherwise and was ready to plummet down to the ground.
”Well, ladies first is now. Lead the way.” he said, trying his absolute best to hide the fact that he was afraid of falling down to the ground beneath.
She quickly scampered over to the side window and peeked in. "Alright he's home, but that means so is the rest of his family." She pouted a bit and hurriedly got back up on the roof. "Question is how to do the kill. He's a pretty big guy. Stands at about 5'11, and weighs over 200 pounds." She sighed. "I at least can't just carry him out."
”Hmm… I did bring some poison with me. Cyanide, TTT, and such,” Connor mentioned, looking into the small bag he’d brought with him. Of course, if he’d label the bottles it would seem suspicious and he didn’t… and now he was confused which bottle contained which poison. Either way, it’ll work on the dude if the syringe he brought will work.
”Just an idea though,” he said, wanting Evelyn to be the one to decide.
"Yeah alright but that's such an easy death for such a fuck up of human scum. He doesn't deserve that. But I guess, then again. Easy death is less suspicious, and then I don't gotta lug his fat body all the way to the mortician. Hmm…" She tapped her finger on her chin. "Sure. We'll poison him. I'll figure out a way to fuck his shit up later."
”Or… you know. If you want a painful death along with low suspicion, I’ve got a canister of gasoline and some matches in here along with some narcotics,” Connor mentioned, placing the said items on the roof’s floor in order as he said them. Given the fact that he’s usually prepared, he keeps everything locked quite well to prevent himself from being the one in danger.
"Dear Watson, I think this is is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Said the arsonist with a smile, grabbing the gasoline. "Burn the whole house down then or just his room. Also we should figure out how too make it all look like an accident." She hen began looking around for anything that would help,as the sun began to set. She got distracted and sat down, watching the sky with wide eyes.
Connor turned when Evelyn did, smiling a bit at the sunset.
”If the circuit is cut from the wires that connect to an old TV, it is very probable that a spark would occur and if the floor is wet, well, you know,” Connor stated. Given the situation, this proved to be quite the idea.
"They just bought a new tv last week." She stated plainly, putting her head on his shoulder. "Before you shove me off, people like to walk their dogs this time of night. I'm doing this so people think we're a couple enjoying the sunset. The less suspicious people are the better, yeah?" She smiled. "Don't worry we don't gotta hold hands or nuthin', this will suffice."
Connor shrugged when Evelyn mentioned the couple part. Honestly, it wasn’t in his mind to do anything along those lines anyways, let alone, think of themselves as a couple despite the reason. Taking the facts she said in, Connor tapped his chin in deep thought. The new TV was going to be a problem on the long run.
”What else is there inside his room that can be quite… hot, per say?” he asked.
"He's got a fish tank? Oh he also smokes a lot of pot and cigarettes. Maybe he dropped a cig which caught his rug on fire, and from there on the house slowly exploded into flame." She said this all casually, and noticed a woman on the opposite of the street with a terrier, looking at the two and she gave a small wave. Evelyn waved back. "See? Gotta think about things like that."
Connor eyed the woman disapprovingly. He’d always hated bystanders who played no role to society but that should come out too clear now, should it. With the new information provided, he nodded.
”Well, now that the method’s decided, perhaps it’s now time?” he asked a bit more quietly than usual.
"Hmm…his family is still awake. So is he. We wouldn't want to start a fight or have anyone calling the cops too early, yes?" She asked with a smile. "Just take a moment to relax Con Man. The night is gorgeous and young anyways. After this though, since you don't drink, we can go to the diner my uncle owns called Grandma's Kitchen. I love the food there. And I'll pay, don't worry."
Dare he said, Connor didn’t want to spend more time with this girl for reasons he would rather not disclose to her, that being discomfort. He was socially awkward, always has been. This situation existed within the realm he tried to stay away from. But, of course, a deal’s a deal and he’s than willing to take the money. If that does come at all. He sat down beside the girl, rolling his eyes a bit. His hands rested behind him, balancing himself to not fall. He gave the girl’s hand a long stare, a weird idea emerged in his head. He shook his head a little.
Not a good idea, he said mentally to himself.
She noticed his eyes glancing between their hands and smirked as he looked away but said nothing about it. Who was she to pressure him. "How pretty the sunset is hm?" She said with a smile, the colors of the sky overwashing her and making her glow, looking gorgeous in the sun.
Connor looked at the sunset as well.
“It’s… yeah, pretty…” the man replied, looking back at the girl’s hand again. For some reason, he wanted to take her hand into his, badly as well. However, he wouldn’t dare to do so without her consent. He went back to the staring, not at the sunset but at Evelyn’s hand.
"What, something on my finger nail? I thought I cleaned them today…" She said lifting her hand and looking at her nails. She then put her hand back down on top of Connors. "You're not sneaky about wanting to hold my hand. Why, I don't know since you were just trying to kill me not even an hour ago. Couldn't have fallen that fast." She winked with a smart little grin on her face.
Connor rolled his eyes but took Evelyn on her offer. It wasn’t like he’s gonna let a chance pass by like that. He took hold of the girl’s hand, realizing just how soft they actually were. He stared at it blankly for a bit before letting out the smallest of smiles form on his lips.
She shook her head and couldn't help but laugh a bit. "You're cute when you smile. I have a feeling you don't do that often, usually stone faced. I like your smile though, even if it's such a small and simple one." She then tousled her hair and smoothed it back a bit as slowly the sun dropped and her smile fell into an absolute O of awe, looking up at the stars as she looked up. "Up here there is less light pollution. It's gorgeous…" She said softly, her usually high wire sharp tone softening to that of silky whispers, amazed by the night sky. "I've never seen it like this really."
Although her words were fairly interesting, Connor didn’t seem to have paid attention to them as much as he did to what he had at hand, quite literally as well. He held onto her hand softly, slowly raising it up and to his lips. Of course, he’d worked fast, pecking the back of her hand quite quickly before turning to the stars.
“They are quite beautiful, aren’t they…?” He acted as if nothing had happened when everything had happened.
She gasped softly when she noticed him kissing her hand. It was barely a kiss, soft as a feather, but there it was. "Geeze you move fast hm?" She said with a smile, before lifting his hand and putting his arm around her shoulders. "Not that I mind or nothin'." Suddenly she got a phone call. "Nyello? Oh Hi! No I'm not getting off your roof. No. No~ Mhm…yeah. No! I'm getting myself a better mans than you on this roof. Uhuh. Make me. Oooh…fair and valid point. Fine fine we'll be outta your hair soon." She then hung up. "Toxic ex down there somehow knew that it's me on his house. I forgot to block his moms number. We outta head. We can go find somewhere else to star gaze if ya want. Or catch a bite. I'm not wasting this whole outfit." (Yes tis I, the ruiner of romance scenes with sudden movement to make that first kiss wait even longer and more agonizing.)
