“That’s good to hear!” Marcus added in after Pollux and Cyrus finished speaking. “Once we figure this all out you can go back to your normal life to, back to your apartment and everything.”

@Becfromthedead group

"Yeah, I mean… that's the hope, anyway. I just wanna keep pushing forwards without… gangs getting in my way," Pollux chuckled, "Never thought that'd be an issue I ran into, but I guess I can be wrong."
"Yeah, hopefully it won't be once we're done with all this," Cyrus murmured.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus shook his head, laughing nervously. "Yeah… once you get involved with gangs its hard to find a way out. Some won't let you leave alive. But you're one of the lucky ones. I think you'll get out alright." He offered a weak smile, hoping his words were somewhat comforting for such a dark topic.

@Becfromthedead group

"Yeah, I'd say your situation is… unique," Cyrus agreed, "and much of it can be boiled down to a couple of problematic people anyway, so…"
"You don't have to say it," Pollux said, "I understand you're going to 'take care' of things. Probably shouldn't give me specifics anyhow, so I can't be used as leverage again. You can tell me what you want after this is over with, but for now, I don't mind not knowing. It's maybe better that way."

@Toxic_Persephone group

"It would be better… I don't think it's good to tell too many people what we have planned… I really don't feel like dealing with a Marx who know's what we're planning. I might not come back alive…" He admitted, paling at the thought. It wouldn't be a quick death either. Marx would torture him until he begged to die.

@Becfromthedead group

"Yeah… I think you have good enough of an idea already," Cyrus sighed, "Hopefully, when we come back, we'll be free to talk all about it."
Pollux nodded. "Please do come back from what you're doing. Both of you."
Cyrus folded his hands. He was coming off as pretty confident to Marcus, but really it was hiding this mixture of insecurity and raw anger that needed to be taken out on one person.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus nodded softly, biting his lip. He looked to Pollux when he spoke and smiled softly.
“We’ll come back. Im sure we’re both too determined to escape to die.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus leaned into Cyrus and shrugged lightly, running his fingers through his hair. “We probably should, give Pollux some time to rest and us time to figure things out.”

@Becfromthedead group

“Yeah, besides, I have to go talk to Nina in a bit,” Cyrus said, “That’s going to be a time…”
His gaze settled back over Pollux.
“You focus on getting better, okay?”
“Of course. It’s not like I have anything better to do,” he laughed, “Don’t worry about me too much. I’ll be fine.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus shivered at the name, frowning. He hoped Cyrus would be alright and that nothing would happen to him. He couldn’t take losing Cy.
He stared at the wall for a moment as he thought over what he would do, hoping he could get somebody else to do his dirty work.
Marcus hated killing.
He really didn’t want to do it, but there were few other choices; and those didn’t include his surviving.
“Do get better, but try and stay here in the hospital at costs. You’re safest here.”

@Becfromthedead group

“Yeah, I gotcha,” Pollux said with a smile, “I’ll get better, but not too fast.”
Cyrus nodded.
“See you, then,” he said, waving and moving towards the door.
The same nurse from earlier came back in as they were leaving and began checking Pollux again.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus waved goodbye and hurried after Cyrus, watching the nurse pass and check Pollux. He turned his gaze up to Cyrus, feeling much more relaxed than he had ever felt in his entire life.
For once the darkened tangle of thoughts and emotions in his head quit writhing. They settled, resting their tired limbs so Marcus could think straight for a moment.
Cyrus had given him a will to live, something to live for. Marcus loved it, all of it. Every little moment they shared from their hands brushing against each other to the most intimate of moments. Even just the mere presence of Cyrus brought some healing to Marcus's revolting mess of trauma and abuse. He felt loved and that was all he ever wanted in life.
So he brushed their shoulders together, his green eyes shining brightly.
"He was really nice, Cy. I liked him. Thank you for introducing us."

@Becfromthedead group

“Oh, of course,” Cyrus said, a little taken aback.
He hadn’t expected thanks for that, of all things.
“I was a little worried you would feel weird about him being an ex of mine and all that. Or that he would feel weird meeting you as my new boyfriend and start acting snarky. Because believe me, he knows how to be an ass when he wants. But no, I’m glad you two didn’t butt heads or anything. I think he gets who you are to me, and what kind of situation he could be in if he steps on the wrong person’s toes.”
Cyrus clasped his hand over Marcus’.
“I’m meeting Nina in a fairly public area, by the way, so you don’t have to worry about her hurting me- at least not right away. We’re going down to the park that’s a bit closer to our house. The one with the duck pond. And we’re meeting before it gets dark out.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus shook his head. “He was nice. Much nicer than anyone I’ve really met.” He paused for a moment, confusion crossing his face for a split second. Why would he be uncomfortable with an ex? Marx had them over all the time. Marcus never questioned them.
Nevertheless he smiled up at Cyrus and shook his head softly.
“It’s no big deal, I’m used to ex’s around. But Pollux was much better than any ex’s Marx ever had around. I liked Pollux. He was kind to me.” He laughed softly and gave Cyrus’s hand a gentle squeeze.
“Stay safe out there. I care for you a lot, Cy. I love you more than anything else in this world.” He leaned over to kiss Cyrus’s cheek, beaming for the first time in a long time.

@Becfromthedead group

“That’s good to know,” Cyrus said softly, “He’s definitely a lot nicer than a lot of my other exes, but still… I dunno, jealousy is a real-ass thing.”
He leaned into Marcus’ kiss willingly.
“I’ll be careful for sure. I’m still scared half to death, you know.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus blinked at the word, tilting his head. "I won't get jealous, ever… I can promise you that." He murmured, giving Cyrus's hand a small squeeze.
"'Jealousy isn't good. It gets you harmed.'" Marcus seemed to recite that line, almost as if he had been told it for years.
He brightened up when Cyrus reassured him, hugging the other's arm close. "I know, and I'll be here for you too, to make it less scary."

@Becfromthedead group

"I agree," Cyrus said, "Well… Jealousy can tell you when you're being slighted, but it can lead to a lot of hurt if you aren't careful how you use it. All emotions have a place, you know."
He leaned into Marcus even closer. "Thank you. It's a big comfort, you know…"
He hugged the other's arm back. His mouth went a little dry.
"I have a feeling the rest is going to go by fast. We'll have to take action before anyone finds out our plans, and before Pollux gets discharged."

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus only shrugged off Cyrus's words, unable to believe him quite yet. Emotions to him were a death sentence. Certain emotions shown could get him left in the basement with Marx for weeks. He hated it. It left him so broken and hurt each time so eventually he just gave up on feeling, hiding it all under a submissive attitude.
His thoughts disappeared when Cyrus spoke again. "I hope it would be. I want to comfort you because I love you!" He hummed happily.
"It will go by fast… we have to make it go by fast… I'm just afraid we might get caught… I don't think I could survive another one of Marx's attacks. Or prison." He paled. "Hell I'd take prison over Marx."

@Becfromthedead group

"If we do it right, you won't have to suffer either," Cyrus promised, "Once I have my talk with Nina, I think we can further discuss what the plan needs to be on your part. They aren't completely separate deeds, after all. Our gangs are somewhat interconnected."
He peered into Marcus' eyes with a worried gaze. There was something hiding behind that cheer he tried to display towards Cyrus, but he dared not confront it. Not right now.

@Toxic_Persephone group

"They are… Marx and your father work together a lot." He added, biting at his fingertips as he thought it over.
He turned his eyes down to Cyrus's chest when he realized the other was looking at him, cringing a little under the gaze. Marcus could tell Cyrus wanted to say something, wanted to point something out, but Marcus didn't know if he could ever tell the other the full extent of the damage done to him.
"Whats wrong, Cy? Is there something on my face?" He asked, trying to make a joke but failing as a nervous laugh left his throat.

@Becfromthedead group

"Worry? Or something," Cyrus admitted, "That's what's on your face, I guess. You don't have to tell me everything if you aren't ready, but I feel like you've got this… facade up. You don't have to do that around me, Marcus."
He sighed softly.
"And especially don't fake positivity. I'm a whole-ass empath and a bit of a pessimist, so I can pretty much read you like a book, and I don't buy into much positive thinking as it is. Yes, it is a reassurance that you'll be there for me, but I honestly- I don't know if- if… if everythingwillbeokay."
He rushed the last bit of his sentence, as if trying to gloss over it.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus shifted nervously, rubbing at his neck with a small sigh. "I can't help it, Cy… I'm sorry." He murmured, sulking and pushing his head against Cyrus's arm.
"I don't know if everything is going to be okay either. I'm worried if I do something wrong you'll turn on me like Marx. But I know in my heart and mind that you're not like him and you wouldn't hurt me but I've been so conditioned I'm afraid."

@Becfromthedead group

"Don't be sorry. Like… I know I'm not necessarily wrong to worry, but I shouldn't pry. And on god, I would never hurt you on purpose. Never." Cyrus placed a hand over Marcus' head.
"It's going to be hard to unlearn, but maybe once he's gone…"
A lump rose in his throat. It was hard to imagine a world without those terrible men in it. His father. Marx. He worried they were actually here to stay. There had probably been attempts on their lives before- attempts that were easily thwarted.

@Toxic_Persephone group

He leaned into the other's touch once he realized it was a comforting action, closing his eyes as he listened to Cyrus speak.
Marcus had to admire his lover more. It was obvious Cyrus was just as scared as he was, but he was going out of his way to make Marcus feel safe.
"I know… I love you Cy, thank you."

@Becfromthedead group

"Of course, love," Cyrus soothed, "You always try to do the same. Comforting me, that is."
He was also touching Marcus for his own comfort. His breaths felt a little shaky, but it wasn't so bad compared to the full-on panic attacks. Not even close. And he didn't feel himself sliding that way, although anxious.
Cyrus checked the time and frowned.
"I've got an hour 'til I have to meet her."

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus pressed a warm kiss to Cyrus's cheek, pulling him into a tight hug. "Of course. I'll always try and comfort you. I don't like seeing you stressed or anxious."
He took Cyrus's hands and gently tugged on him, leading him towards a small, uncrowded cafe he often went to.
"Lets relax until then, okay? Come and have a tea or a coffee with me. Tea definitely helps."

@Becfromthedead group

"Sure," Cyrus agreed, sinking into Marcus' grip. "I-I'd really appreciate that."
He laughed softly to himself.
"And I know you didn't know this yet, but tea happens to be the only drink I like more than alcohol. I'm no connoisseur, but I do enjoy a good cup."

@Toxic_Persephone group

"Anything for you, love," He offered a small smile, opening the door for Cyrus once they reached the small cafe.
"I used to have a friend who made me a herbal tea when I got really upset. She was so kind and caring and would fix me up each time Marx roughed me up. But sadly she had to move, I miss her a lot but I can't contact her because Marx"

@Becfromthedead group

"God, fuck that guy," Cyrus grumbled, "You deserve to have supportive friends. But I guess he was afraid that she'd convince you to get out of there or something."
He walked into the cafe and took in a breath of air that smelled of coffee. His eyes passed over the menu, to the tea section.
"What's good here, as far as tea?" he asked.
