"Good for you guys!" Mr. Brennahan smiled, waving a bit to Melissa when she climbed in the back with Lucas. "And I'm not surprised you're exhausted. It's been a couple of hours, and I'm sure you played hard."
"Good for you guys!" Mr. Brennahan smiled, waving a bit to Melissa when she climbed in the back with Lucas. "And I'm not surprised you're exhausted. It's been a couple of hours, and I'm sure you played hard."
Lucas nodded. "Yeah… at least I didn't pass out this time. I made sure I drank enough water before we started. And I'm fairly certain I hit a home run at the end, but I couldn't hear the announcer very well."
"Shoot- you did, and I wanted to go look for the ball…" Melissa sighed softly, pouting just a bit. "It's probably too late, and too dark though. And you're tired. I'll just have to get the next one you hit."
Lucas smiled softly. "Well, we can probably go find it tomorrow if you want. I doubt anyone else is going to go looking for it in all that grass."
"Wait, you'd really want to help me look for it?" Melissa asked, giving him a strange look. "You wouldn't have to, I could always look for it by myself."
"Well, you don't need to go wandering in a field all by yourself." Lucas kissed Melissa softly. "I don't mind."
Melissa gave a little smile, kissing him in return. "Would you sign it for me, once we find it, then?"
Lucas flushed a bit. "Um… s-sure, Mel. I can do that if you want me to." He smiled as well and looked out the window.
Melissa felt her smile pull up more, before resting her head on his shoulder. "Mm, thank you~" She hummed lightly, taking his hand in her own.
"No problem." Lucas rested his head on Melissa's shoulder and yawned again. Thankfully, they were almost home, so he could go to bed soon.
Melissa sighed lightly, glancing out the window. It only took a couple minutes more before they pulled up to the house. "Mm, I can get your stuff."
"You don't have to, Mel… I can grab it." Lucas got out of the car and opened up the trunk to grab his bag.
"But you're tired. I really don't mind doing it, Lu." Melissa hummed softly, coming up behind him and rubbing his shoulders.
Lucas smiled softly and kissed Melissa's cheek. "I'm alright… I'll just be setting it by the couch when we get in anyway."
"Alright, fine. I tried, at least." Melissa hummed lightly, kissing him in return. "Let's head inside, then."
"Mhmm." Lucas took Melissa's hand and walked inside, setting his bag down beside the couch and grabbing himself some clean clothes. "I'm gonna go shower. I'll be back soonish." He kissed Melissa softly and headed upstairs to shower.
"Alright, take your time." Melissa hummed, sitting down on the couch. Cody jumped up next to her, hoping in her lap when she was settled. "I've got a puppy to keep me company."
Lucas waved and left. He returned about twenty minutes later and flopped down on the couch, looking up at Melissa. His hair was fluffy and disheveled from showering.
"You have a good shower?" Melissa asked lightly, reaching over to ruffle his hair. She had a light smile up, starting to run her fingers through his hair as she also pet Cody.
"Mhmm~…" Lucas leaned into Melissa's hand and closed his eyes. "I feel a lot cleaner now. Less gross."
"Then can I get a hug, before I let you go to sleep?" Melissa asked softly, letting Cody get up to nose at Lucas. "I still owe you one, from after the game."
"Yeah, sure." Lucas sat up and hugged Melissa, resting his head on her shoulder. "It's not even that late, is it?"
“I mean, it’s after ten. So it’s kind of late.” Melissa told him softly, kissing his head. “You also got up early for school, and then played a game. You had a pretty busy day.”
"Yeah, I guess so… mm…" Lucas yawned a bit and rested his head in Melissa's lap. Cody flopped onto his chest.
“I can get up, and let you go to sleep if you want. But if you want me here, I can stay too.” Melissa hummed softly, starting to play with his hair.
"I don't care… I'm probably gonna fall asleep either way." Lucas closed his eyes and relaxed at Melissa's touch.
"Mm, you want a blanket, then?" Melissa asked lightly, glancing over to the blanket on one of the chairs.
"Sure…" Lucas yawned a bit as he pet Cody, seeming pretty close to falling asleep at this point.
Carefully, she stretched out try to reach the blanket without disturbing either of the boys. Melissa finally got it, and pulled it over to him. "Here you are, Lu."
"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas huddled up under the blanket and smiled weakly. He was clearly exhausted.
