Melissa nodded softly, sitting back to lean against him. "That's enough for me to believe you. I'm still unsure, but I trust you and your judgement."
Melissa nodded softly, sitting back to lean against him. "That's enough for me to believe you. I'm still unsure, but I trust you and your judgement."
"As long as we believe that there's hope for ourselves, there is. We can't just give up, Melissa."
"Is it really that easy?" Melissa asked lightly, taking his arm and wrapping it around her.
"Nope. But hey…" Lucas sighed, huddling close to Melissa. "What else have we got to cling to?"
"Dunno," Melissa shrugged a little, curling up closer. "I guess nothing but each other, and hope."
"Yep… so that's what we gotta hold onto." Lucas smiled weakly and held Melissa closer to himself.
Melissa felt a soft smile pull up, and gently rested her head on his shoulder. "I love you… I'm sorry for being a bit of a drama queen."
"I love you too, Mel… and I'm definitely more dramatic than you." Lucas laughed a bit, resting his head against Melissa's shoulder.
“Mm… I think we’re tied. We’re both pretty dramatic.” Melissa smiled still, slowly starting to revert to her normal self. “But I mean, I don’t consider that a bad thing.”
"I guess not." Lucas held Melissa's hand a bit tighter. "Are you feeling any better, darling?" He asked softly.
"Yeah, actually. Just sitting here with you has helped immensely. Though my shoulder still hurts some." Melissa admitted, lifting her head to kiss his cheek.
"Do you want to get meds from the nurse?" Lucas asked, returning the kiss as he looked over at her.
"No, it seems silly. It'll probably go away in a little bit." Melissa shrugged, nuzzling in to the crook of his neck.
"If it hurts, you should get it looked at. I've ignored injuries too many times to let you do the same." Lucas sighed.
"It's really fine, Lu. My shoulder is just sore, it's not like she broke it." Melissa insisted, starting to play with his hair.
"I know, but she still hurt you… let's say… if it still doesn't feel better by the end of this period, you'll go get pain meds?"
Melissa sighed softly, nodding a little. "Alright, I'll do that." She told him in a soft tone, still playing with his hair.
"Thank you…" Lucas leaned into Melissa's touch, sighing quietly and closing his eyes. "You know I have your best interests in mind, right?"
"Right," Melissa told him lightly, sitting up enough to kiss him lightly. "I know you just want me to be alright. And honestly, I need it sometimes."
Lucas nodded a bit and returned the kiss. "And if you're ever feeling bad about yourself or unsafe or anything, I don't want you to be afraid to come to me."
"I will, if you come to me for any of the same reasons. I don't want you to be struggling, and not tell me." Melissa told him, starting to curl back up next to him.
Lucas nodded again and held Melissa close. "I'll try my best, Mel… I love you." He murmured softly.
Melissa smiled softly, gently rubbing his arm. "I love you too… don't forget it." She whispered, tilting her head back for him to see her light smile.
Lucas smiled gently and pulled Melissa in to kiss her. She seemed to be calming down, which was good, but he wasn't sure if she was ready to go back in yet.
Melissa flicked her gaze down to his hand, taking it in her own. "I like holding your hand… mine fits just right, in yours." She hummed a little.
Lucas flushed a bit and nodded. "I… y-yeah. My hands are probably a bit calloused from baseball." He laughed softly.
“I like it. It feels secure… I don’t really know why, though.” Melissa hummed lightly, tracing circles in to his palm a bit.
Lucas shrugged a bit. "If you say so." He laced his fingers with Melissa's and ran his thumb over the back of her hand.
Melissa smiled softly, sitting up to peck his cheek. “Mm, that feels nice.” She hummed lightly, nosing in to his shoulder.
Lucas flushed a bit harder and continued, resting his head against Melissa's. He was sure that the bell had rung by now, but he hadn't heard it.
