"Mm, true. But it would give me a chance to do things differently. Maybe it wouldn't be as big of a deal now, if I had a chance to fix things." Melissa mumbled, kissing the top of his head.
"Mm, true. But it would give me a chance to do things differently. Maybe it wouldn't be as big of a deal now, if I had a chance to fix things." Melissa mumbled, kissing the top of his head.
"I guess so… maybe it would be nice. But we couldn't actually go back in time. It's not possible."
"I guess that's the only problem here… yet again, clearly something bad happened if it did exist. None of this would be happening right now, if things were better. It probably caused some paradox, that destroyed the universe that we had to fix. Now we're stuck this way for all eternity."
"Yep…" Lucas sighed softly and closed his eyes. "Time travel is a whole mess that I don't really feel like getting into. It always goes wrong somehow in movies."
“Mhmm… I guess if given the opportunity I shouldn’t take it, then.” Melissa mumbled, starting to get off the couch. “I should probably go back to what I was doing.”
"Right… and if we screwed with time, we may not have ended up together, and that would be very sad."
“That’s also true. And we wouldn’t have Cody either. There’s a lot of bad things that could have happened.” Melissa hummed, leaning over to kiss his forehead. “Now, I’m gonna get the rest of the boxes.”
"Mm… alright, Mel. Are you sure you don't want me to come help?" He asked, looking up at Melissa.
“I’ll be fine. You’ve got a puppy right now, he needs your attention.” Melissa smiled softly, taking both books and putting them back in the box.
"Alright, alright… just call me up if you need anything, okay?" Lucas lay back down on the couch.
“I’ll do that. Don’t worry your pretty little head over me, though.” Melissa hummed softly, folding the top of the box closed before heading upstairs.
Lucas flushed a bit and closed his eyes, pulling Cody closer to himself. He fell silent and just waited for Melissa to return.
After a little bit, Melissa had stacked quite a few boxes on the floor, letting out a light sigh. "I'm going to regret that tomorrow…" She mumbled to herself, leaning back against the couch.
"What was that, Mel?" Lucas asked, sitting up and watching her worriedly. "I'm sorry… I should've helped you."
"No, no it's fine." Melissa hummed, giving him a little smile. "It's no big deal. It was just a lot more work than I thought it would be."
Lucas sighed. "Can I help you set them up, at least? I don't want you hurting your back or anything…"
"I mean, I can't stop you. But you really don't have to. I can do it." Melissa told him softly, sucking in a deep breath. "I just need a minute, first."
"I want to help, Mel…" Lucas carefully shifted Cody so he was laying on the couch and got up.
Sighing softly, Melissa nodded a little. "Alright. Where do we want to build the pen?" She asked softly, pushing off the couch.
"Um… probably just around the couch so he can lay up here with me if he wants to." Lucas picked up one of the boxes.
Melissa nodded a little, starting to adjust one of the boxes. "Right. You don't think you'll trip on it in the morning, do you?"
"Uh… hopefully not, but no guarantees." Lucas shrugged and moved the box he was holding.
"Right…" Melissa mumbled as she followed his lead. She was watching him nervously, worried that something was wrong. But she didn't ask him, only standing there in silence.
Lucas hummed thoughtfully to himself as he moved and stacked the boxes, trying to make sure that Cody wouldn't be able to get over them.
Melissa watched him in silence, offering a box to him when he had his placed. "How high does this need to be?"
"Um… I dunno exactly, but high enough that he wouldn't try to get over. A stack of two boxes should be enough."
"Right, okay." Melissa nodded softly, quickly counting up the boxes. "We don't have enough, then. I'm pretty sure there was one more on the floor, I can go get."
"Alright, Mel." Lucas kept quietly stacking the boxes to make a small ring around the couch.
Darting up the stairs, Melissa pushed the closet door back open and glanced around the floor. "There it is." She mumbled to herself, starting to drag it out. Picking it up, she kicked the closet door closed before making her way down the stairs. "We should probably find something else for tomorrow."
"Yeah, probably… we might have to get an actual pen at some point." Lucas sighed, adjusting a couple more boxes.
