"Mhmm… do you know where that stuff is?" Melissa asked lightly, pulling her wallet out of her pocket.
"Mhmm… do you know where that stuff is?" Melissa asked lightly, pulling her wallet out of her pocket.
Lucas nodded and led Melissa off to the toy section. Once they were there, he grabbed a package of small tennis balls and a rope toy.
Adding that to the price, Melissa counted her money mentally. "I think I can cover it," She mumbled to herself.
"I'm paying, Mel. Remember?" Lucas adjusted the things in his arms and started heading towards the checkout counter.
"But Lu… I have enough." Melissa insisted, following after him. "Come on, please?"
"I can afford it… you guys already got me a puppy. The least I can do is buy the collar and food and stuff."
Melissa sighed weakly, caving in. "Alright, fine. I just… I wish you'd let me pay." She added on in a soft tone, putting her wallet away.
"It's fine, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and headed up to the counter, where he set the things down and picked out a bone shaped dog tag.
"Could I hold him for a minute?" Melissa asked lightly, watching as he picked up the dog tag. "It'll make it easier for you to pay."
"Sure." Lucas held Cody out to Melissa and pulled out his wallet to pay for the the things. After he paid, he brought the dog tag over to the machine.
Melissa followed after Lucas, holding on to Cody with a smile. "You can put my address on it, right?"
"Mhmm. And I'll put my phone number…" Lucas stuck the tag in the machine and started typing what he wanted on the tag.
"Mm, alright." Melissa hummed lightly, putting her focus on Cody. "Can I put his collar on, or does the tag have to go on first?"
"Um… it might be easier to put the tag on the collar first before we put it on him. The machine is relatively quick anyway."
"That's fine. I just thought I'd ask." Melissa told him, smiling still. "But no matter. I can wait a couple of seconds."
Lucas nodded a bit. Soon, the tag was done and he attached to to the collar before putting the collar around Cody's neck. "There you go…" He clipped the leash onto him and smiled softly.
Melissa smiled lightly, setting Cody down on the ground. "Why is he so cute?" She asked lightly, taking Lucas's hand with a soft smile.
"I dunno. He definitely is, though." Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek and walked out the door with her and Cody.
"It's quite unfair. Why can't I be that cute?" Melissa joked, keeping up a light smile. "I just don't understand."
"You already are that cute, darling." Lucas laughed. "I'm not sure how much cuter you could even get."
"I am not that cute." Melissa insisted, sticking her tongue out to him. "You both have got me beat."
"We do not." Lucas kissed Melissa again, grinning. "I happen to think you're adorable, darling."
Melissa pouted, burying her face into his shoulder. "I'm not though…" She whined at his comment, feeling her face flare up.
"Am I not allowed to find you attractive, darling?" Lucas asked, gently tucking a bit of Melissa's hair behind her ear.
"Mmm… I'm about ready to tell you no." Melissa mumbled against him, lifting her head enough to rest her chin on his shoulder.
"But whyyyyy?" Lucas asked, kissing Melissa's cheek. "You call me cute all the time."
"Because I said so." Melissa continued to pout, not actually having a good reason. "I don't need a reason."
"But I think you're cuuuuute~" Lucas whined, nuzzling against Melissa's cheek affectionately.
"But I'm noooooooot~" Melissa whined back, unable to keep a smile from pulling up. "I'm no where near as cute as you and Cody."
"I think you are, darling, and you can't change my mind~" Lucas purred, kissing her cheek again.
