Laughing a little, Melissa glanced back to him. "You're so cute." She hummed softly before turning her head back the right way.

Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "Cody is my child now and I don't want anything to happen to him."
Melissa laughed lightly, giving Lucas a soft smile. "Well what am I? Am I your wife now?"
Lucas flushed red and looked away. "I-I… um… you're my girlfriend…?" He offered weakly.
"Aww, I thought I was getting promoted." Melissa joked, coming to a stop by his side. "You know I'm just teasing, right?"
Lucas nodded, stopping along with her. "Y-Yeah, I know, you just… took me by surprise…"
"Well, I'm sorry if I took it too far." Melissa apologized softly, squeezing his free hand a little.
"It's alright, Mel. Don't worry about it." Lucas smiled lightly and kissed Melissa's cheek. "I'll be fine."
"If you're sure." Melissa replied softly, kissing him in return. "Just tell me if I do something that bugs you."
Lucas nodded and kept walking until they reached the store. He stepped in with Melissa and looked around.
"What do we need first?" Melissa asked softly, sticking close to Lucas. "Probably not food, because that's gonna be heavy."
"Right… I think we should look at leashes and collars first, yeah?" Lucas headed down the aisles, looking for collars.
“Right, yeah that makes sense.” Melissa smiled softly, following after him. “Where do we get name tags to go with it?”
"Um… they're at the front, I think. There's a little engraving machine you can go to after you buy the name tag."
"Oh, okay." Melissa hummed lightly, smiling softly as she continued down the aisle they were in. "Sorry for all the questions."
"No problem, Mel." Lucas found the collars and looked at them curiously. "Mm… what do you think, Cody?" He asked, holding the puppy up to the wall of collars.
Melissa laughed softly, scanning over the collars herself. When held out, Cody yipped and started squirming in Lucas's hold.
Cody sniffed at the collars curiously once he was close enough and Lucas watched him. "You like this one?" Lucas asked, picking up the blue moon and star themed collar that Cody had put his nose on.
"I like that one too," Melissa grinned brightly, scratching under Cody's chin. "It looks nice with his fur. Don't you think?"
"Mhmm. Let's see if it fits…" Lucas fitted the collar around Cody's neck and adjusted it to his neck. "It seems to."
"Is that the one, then?" Melissa hummed lightly, her gaze flicking between Lucas and the puppy. "He's super cute in it."
"Mhmm. There's a matching leash, too." Lucas picked up the leash, humming thoughtfully. "What do you think?" He asked.
"I think it's a good one. What about you? Any thoughts or opinions?" Melissa asked lightly, twisting a loose strand of hair around her finger.
"I like it. I think it suits him nicely. Now we'll need to go get food… we can get bowls as well, but we could theoretically just use normal bowls that you already have if your family is okay with it."
"That's true. We just shouldn't make a huge deal out of it." Melissa hummed a little, starting off to go find dog food. "We can come back, some other time and get bowls. For now, just what we need."
"Mhmm." Lucas found the dog food aisle and grabbed a couple bags of dry puppy food. "We'll start with just the dry stuff. Dogs don't need the wet food, really."
"Lucas- I can carry it." Melissa insisted, going to take one of the bags from him. "You've already got your hands full."
"Alright, alright, um… what else should we get? Toys, probably… and maybe some treats for training him."
"Probably a good idea." Melissa started, pulling her phone out of her pocket. Quickly she started calculating the price of what the had currently. "Though we best watch the price on the toys."
"Yeah. A couple tennis balls and a rope toy should be good, I think. Nothing loud or your mother might get upset."
