"I mean, you probably had to go multiple times. Your dog had to have gotten bigger." Melissa pointed out, pecking Lucas's cheek.
"I mean, you probably had to go multiple times. Your dog had to have gotten bigger." Melissa pointed out, pecking Lucas's cheek.
"Well, yeah. But like I said, I was very young. My parents typically bought all the food and such. I walked him usually, though."
"Right, that's true." Melissa hummed softly, starting to unbuckle when they pulled up to the house. "We'll figure it out."
"Mhmm. I could always just carry him to the store, theoretically…" Lucas unbuckled himself as well.
“That’s true. I could also carry him, if you’re tired of doing so.” Melissa hummed a little, pushing the door open and getting out.
"Yeah… he's not too heavy, so I should have it handled." Lucas slipped out the door behind Melissa and closed it behind himself.
"If you're sure, then maybe carrying him is best." Melissa gave a little smile, starting up to the house. "Do you want something to eat, when we get inside?"
"Um… yeah, sure. Maybe we can put him out in the backyard for now since you've got a fence." Lucas hummed thoughtfully as he followed Melissa.
"But the poor thing would be alone." Melissa pouted a little, pulling her key out of her wallet, to unlock the door. "Can't he stay with us in the kitchen?"
"He'd probably wander around the house, and we wouldn't want him having any accidents." Lucas sighed softly.
“But Luuuuu~” Melissa continued to pout, leading the way inside. “I don’t want him to feel lonely…”
"I know, I know… maybe we can eat outside?" Lucas suggested. "So he doesn't have to be alone and stuff?"
Melissa paused, thinking over the matter before caving in with a sigh. “Mmm… fine, I can compromise to that.”
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright, sounds good… what do you want to have?" He asked.
Glancing back at him, she shrugged a little. "Not sure. Something light, for myself, though." Melissa hummed giving him a smile.
"Alright… do we still have leftover pizza?" Lucas asked. "If so, we can probably just have that, right?"
"I mean, sure. Works for me." Melissa shrugged, glancing back to Lucas. "I can get that started, if you want to go put him outside."
"Alright. Should I stick with him, or do you want me to come back in to help you?" Lucas asked, heading towards the back door.
"I don't really care either way. Besides making two trips, I can manage it." Melissa chirped, starting the oven up once again.
"Alright… just text me if you need any help, okay?" Lucas went out into the backyard and set down the puppy. After he did so, he sat down on the steps to keep an eye on him.
"Right, I'll do that!" Melissa called out, starting to fill glasses with water. Humming softly to herself, she put the last bit of pizza on the tray before sticking it in the oven. "You got lunch covered for you two?" Mr. Brennahan asked softly, as he entered the kitchen. "Mhmm, yes sir."
Lucas watched the puppy run around the yard and roll around the grass, a soft smile on his face. He ran his fingers through his hair and pet Cody whenever he passed by.
After a short conversation with her father, Melissa plated the food and started to head outside. She had his food and water, and would go back to grab her own. "Alright, I've got your lunch."
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas smiled gently and accepted the plate of food. Cody ran up to them when Melissa came out, barking excitedly.
Melissa laughed lightly, and knelt down next to the puppy. "Hey, buddy. I'm sorry, but this isn't for you." She hummed lightly, scratching under his chin.
"No pizza for puppies." Lucas laughed, taking a bite of his slice of pizza. Cody tried to crawl into Melissa's lap, whining needily.
"I can't give you pizza," Melissa insisted, picking Cody up. "And we're gonna get you food in a little bit. So you're gonna have to wait."
Cody licked her nose, wagging his tail cheerfully. He barked again as he squirmed, looking over at Lucas's food longingly. "No, Cody. No people food."
Melissa glanced over at Lucas, smiling softly. "I'll wait to spoil you, until Mr. Grouchy pants isn't around." She joked, setting Cody down. "I'll be right back, I'm gonna grab my food."
"I wanna keep him healthy, thank you very much! Pizza will make him fat!" Lucas huffed playfully, ruffling Cody's fur.
