(awwe, bonding over seeing if people had found the mangled body they had left at the torture/murder they committed)
(So precious)
Halm lightly put one arm around Nix, rubbing Nix's head as they waited.
"Looks like it was found," he said gently as the news continued, the news anchor speaking of a gruesome death the night before. A neighbor had heard them, apparently. He smiled, unconcerned.
(Lmao)
"Ooh, yaaay! Hopefully Cas's other exes watch the news~" Nix purred, turning his ears back so Halm could keep rubbing his head. "The only connection they seem to be able to make is the guy's age at the moment."
Halm chuckled a little.
"They might figure it out after several more incidents," he noted. "Or not at all. We might need to leave hints as to what the tie is." He smiled, scratching the top of Nix's head. "What do you think?"
"Mmm… maybe. We'd just have to make sure that it's clear that Cas isn't the killer. I doubt they'd make a connection to some random guy who vanished off the face of the earth."
"Right." Halm thought a moment. "Just could just write 'This is for Cas' in blood on the wall," he said, chuckling at the silliness of the notion.
Nix snickered a bit. "Sure. If that's what you want to do, I'm down. We'd definitely have to make sure Cas doesn't watch the news with us, then."
Halm nodded.
"Right. It might be a bit too obvious for him then." He looked down at Cas as the news continued to drone on in the background. He settled down a bit more with Nix, relaxed and satisfied with their work.
"Cas has pictures of himself with each of these guys, actually. We could print them out and leave them with each of the bodies?" Nix suggested.
"Hm… That would work too. It wouldn't be released to the public immediately, and it would link them to Cas." Halm nodded, giving his approval.
Nix nodded a bit. "The pictures are in his apartment. I don't think he brought them here with him."
"Then we'll stop by and get them next time we go out," Halm said. Still, it was getting late in the morning, and Cas was still asleep.
"I'm going to go make breakfast," he said, pulling away a little.
"Alright. See you soon." Nix huddled up on the bed with Cas, holding the boy close protectively. Even though there was nothing in the house that could endanger Cas, he still wanted to protect him.
Halm looked at Nix and Cas a moment, then left. He hummed a little as he made a light meal, one Nix wouldn't burn himself with. He made toast and jam, with some eggs, bringing all three plates to the bedroom.
"Cas," he said gently, "time to wake up. Breakfast is ready."
Cas stirred a bit and opened his eyes, looking up at Halm and Nix with a yawn. "Mmmm… what..?" He sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "Breakfast." Nix replied.
Halm sat down, offering a plate to Cas and Nix, both with forks this time. He'd probably have to help Nix again, he knew.
Nix took his fork and stabbed his piece of toast. He tried to lift the whole thing to his mouth and seemed confused when it didn't work. Cas quietly started eating his eggs.
Halm smiled a little, pulling the toast off the fork and setting it down on the plate.
"The fork is for the eggs," he explained. "You can eat the toast with your hands."
"Oh, okay…" Nix put down his fork and picked up the toast. He took a bite of it, seeming to be more successful with it than anything that required utensils.
Halm smiled, patting Nix's head. He took a bite of his own food, sitting calmly.
"How did you sleep?" He asked Cas.
"Okay, I guess…" Cas shrugged, continuing to eat quietly. Nix soon finished his toast and started trying to eat the eggs. He poked them with his fork, but they wouldn't stay on it.
Halm nodded a little. He turned to Nix, smiling a little.
"Here, like this." He gently took the fork, cutting off a bit of the egg and scooping it up, holding it out for Nix to eat.
Nix ate them off the spoon, purring softly to himself when he did so. Cas watched the process curiously, but kept quiet.
Halm patted Nix's head, smiling a little. Nix would get the hang of it one day. He offered the handle of the spoon to Nix.
"Want to try on your own?"
Nix shook his head, turning his ears back a bit. He wrapped his tail around himself. Cas snickered to himself a bit and returned to his own food.
Halm sighed a little. He cut off some more of the egg, offering to Nix.
"You're a bit spoiled, you know that?" He said, no malice behind his words.
"He's very spoiled." Cas piped in. Nix grinned and ate the eggs off of the fork, the tip of his tail twitching.
Halm chuckled a little.
"So it seems," he said. He didn't mind though. Nice seemed to enjoy this, after all. He continued to feed Nix, not hesitating to still pat Nix's head.
Nix purred contentedly, huddling up against Halm when he was finished with his food. Cas snickered a bit. "You're such a brat, Nix." Nix grinned smugly, clearly plenty pleased with himself.
Halm laughed a little, turning to his food.
"I don't mind," he said, putting an arm around Nix and rubbing his back.
Nix nuzzled against Halm affectionately, purring more loudly. "He's just gonna get more spoiled, you know. Brat." Cas snickered. Nix stuck his tongue out playfully.
