"He was," Halm replied. "Just after you went to sleep, he broke down."

"What was it about this time?" Nix asked with a soft sigh. "I shouldn't have fallen asleep… I should've been there for him…"

"How his soul hates him. How no one helped him on earth. How he was abandoned by others." Halm's jaw clenched a little.
"And you needed your sleep too. I was here to help him."

Nix sighed. "Still… I should've been there for him. It's my job to comfort him when he has episodes like that. Did he mention the boyfriend situation?"

"He did." Halm tilted his head a little to look up at Nix.
"And if I find any of the fuckers…" Halm was done playing nice. If he found someone who had hurt Cas, there was hell to pay.

"Mm. I bet I could lead you to them~" Nix purred, his eyes gleaming dangerously. "Maybe I could eat their souls too. It's kinda fun."

"We could arrange that." Halm reached up, rubbing the top of Nix's head.

(Halm and Nix: Okay Cas, stay here with Zachary, we're going to go do normal, not at all concerning things on earth~)
Nix purred, closing his eyes and pushing his head up into Halm's hand. "Do you think they'll be as bitter as Cas's dad? Maybe I could squeeze a lemon in them or something…"

"They might be. It all depends on the life they led." Halm thought a moment. "We could find ways to prepare them if we do it enough. Experiment with them. I'm sure there's enough to spare with how many have hurt Cas." There was a bitter tone to Halm's voice at that.

"Mhmm. Trust me, I'm angrier at them than you are. I experienced their abuse firsthand." Nix nuzzled against Halm's hair. "They all just used him for his body. He didn't want to do it, but he wanted them to love him. He was desperate."

"Then they deserve what we're going to do. I feel no remorse for them." Halm scratched the top of Nix's head, scheming. "I could get Zachary, the male koi, to watch Cas while we're away."

Nix nodded. "Alright… I guess we can trust him, then? He'll be careful with Cas? He won't let him leave the house?"

"He will be. He's a good guy. He'll watch Cas, be gentle and patient." Halm sighed, a murderous smile on his face.

Nix nodded again. "Alright. When are we leaving?" He asked. "Should we deal with them all at once or spread it out to enjoy it more?"

"We could head out now, if we need to, but any time is good for me." Halm thought a moment.
"Just a couple. Let people know we're after Cas's exes, let them fear us. Let them think they can hide. But I know we'll find them all."

(Lmao we're serial killers now)
"Go get the fish. We can go now." Nix pulled away from Halm so the god could stand. "I'll watch Cas until he arrives."

"Alright then." Halm stood, patting Nix's head before heading out of the room. He came back a few moments later, a semi sleepy Zachary following him.
"Keep him safe," he said again. Zachary nodded, leaning against the wall for now. Halm offered his hand to Nix.
"Let's get going then."

Nix slid off the bed and accepted Halm's hand. "If anything happens to Cas while we're gone, rest assured you'll have hell to pay. I don't care who you are." He warned Zachary.

"Neither do I," Halm agreed. Zachary swallowed thickly. He couldn't screw this up. Halm pulled Nix close. There were enough shadows here, so he just warped to the meadow.
"So, where shall we begin?"

"Follow me." Nix dragged Halm along by the hand. "You might want to find an alternative form if you don't want to arouse suspicion, though."
Cas stirred in his sleep, whimpering quietly and beginning to tremble.

Zachary looked down at Cas. He must be really important, for Halm of all to be threatening him. He tucked Cas in a bit more, sitting down next to him and gently rubbing his back.
Halm followed after Nix.
"Just until we get to the bastards." He glowed a bit, then lost the horns, got shorter, and turned to look like a human version of himself.

Cas huddled up against Zachary in his sleep, whimpering quietly and trembling a bit.
"Right. Then you can be as intimidating as you want. Now, come on." Nix led Halm out of the forest and headed into town, soon coming up to a small, dirty house. "Target number one."
