"Mmm…" Lucas looked around curiously. There was no one else in the park at all that he could see. "Strange…"
"Mmm…" Lucas looked around curiously. There was no one else in the park at all that he could see. "Strange…"
Slowly she pushed him, glancing around the surrounding area. "Why didn't it bug me when we were at the clearing?" Melissa mumbled to herself, not shaking the freaked out feeling.
"Well, we're always alone in the clearing… it's not strange there." Lucas dragged his feet on the ground to stop his momentum, looking around a bit more.
"I… I mean I guess so." Melissa mumbled, stepping besides him when he stopped. "I shouldn't be this bothered by it, though."
"I dunno… it doesn't feel quite right to me either." Lucas turned his gaze up to Melissa and sighed. "Do you just want to go back home?"
"Y-yeah… if you're okay with that. I'm really not liking this." Melissa admitted, the discomfort clear on her face. "If you don't want to go back, we can just go back to the clearing."
"Let's head back, then. I don't want you being uncomfortable." Lucas stood up and took Melissa's hand, keeping her close to himself as they walked and keeping an eye out just in case.
Nodding a little, she held on to his hand tightly as they walked. "I'm sorry… I shouldn't be this paranoid, but something feels off. I don't like it." Melissa mumbled a bit, trying to keep her focus on the path ahead of them.
"It's alright, Mel. I don't like it either." Lucas sighed and wrapped one arm around Melissa to keep her close.
"So it's not just me, being stupid?" Melissa asked softly, resting her head on his shoulder. Yet she didn't relax, even in the comfort of his arms.
"No, Mel. Something doesn't feel right and I don't want to stick around and find out." Lucas picked up the pace a bit.
Trying to keep her pace matched with his, she started to look around the quiet area. "I just… I don't understand what it is."
"Me either…" Lucas sighed, soon getting the two of them out of the park to the sidewalk, where the sound of the cars drowned out the silence.
Letting out a deep breath, Melissa glanced up at him with a more relaxed expression. "Well. That changed my mood quite drastically…"
"Sorry, Mel." Lucas laughed weakly and kissed Melissa's cheek. "Let's just head back, yeah? We can find something else to do until it's time to go."
"Yeah, that works for me." Melissa replied in a light tone, giving him a weak smile. "Any suggestions?"
"Not really, but I'm open to just about anything." Lucas smiled gently and kept walking.
"Anything?" Melissa hummed, glancing up to him. "Well, maybe I should take the braid out of you hair. Then that anything won't turn up into explaining to my mother why I was playing with your hair."
Lucas snickered a bit. "Right. Forgot about that." He pulled out the hair band and held it out to Melissa, running his fingers through his hair to get it back to normal.
"Thanks," Melissa chirped as she pulled it over her wrist. Leaning away from him, she pulled her hair up out of her face with a light sigh. "I'm not sure what there really is, to do at the house. Especially if my mom is still there."
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I dunno. I could always draw, but I don't know how fun it is for you to just watch me do that…"
Glancing up to him, she gave a little smile. "I like seeing you draw. It's relaxing when you do." Melissa hummed a bit before relaxing back against him.
"Alright… we can do that, then. I just don't want you to get bored, Mel. I know I get really quiet when I'm drawing."
"I'll be alright. I might listen to music while you draw, or read. I don't mind a little quiet when I feel safe." She hummed a little, pecking his cheek. "I might bug you after a little bit, though."
"Alright, Mel." Lucas smiled softly, looking up as they neared the house. "That sounds perfectly alright to me."
"Mm, yay." Melissa chirped, pecking his cheek. "Maybe we could make some kind of treat later."
"Sure, Mel. Whatever you want." Lucas let go of Melissa's hand before opening the door and gesturing for her to go in.
Taking a quick glance back behind her, she let out a soft sigh before walking through the door. "Where's your sketchbook? Is it down here?"
"Yeah, it's down here. It's just in my bag…" Lucas pulled the little black book and a pencil out of his bag and flopped down on the couch.
"Right, I'm gonna go put my shoes away and grab my earbuds. I'll be right back." Melissa hummed a little, leaning over to peck his cheek.
