"You didn't do anything, Cas," Halm murmured gently. "You were born into a horrible situation, but your out of it now. And there must have been someone who cared, even if you didn't know. There's always someone. They just might have never gotten the chance to tell you."

A couple tears rolled down Cas's cheeks and he hiccuped a bit. "B-But why didn't they…?" He whispered weakly. "They knew I needed them and they never helped!"

"What if you helped them in passing? A smile when they were having a horrible day, just a small gesture in passing. What if they never met you again? What if they still thought of you, but they had no idea where you were, what your life was?" Halm rubbed Cas's cheek, wipping the tears away.

(I meant like he dies and something happens to where Wren's death is unusual to most and causes him to not be able to return to a body or move on. He has to be in stasis in a sense until he figures out what to do.)

Cas hiccuped again, huddling close to Halm. "I-I just… n… n-no one ever c-cared… I n… I n-needed help, and no one ever helped…"

"Nix cares about you," he said, "and did everything he could to help. I care about you too, Cas. And we're going to help you now."

Cas nodded shakily, rubbing at his teary eyes. "I-I'm so pathetic… the only friend I ever had on earth was my c-cat."

Cas hiccuped again and huddled close to Halm for comfort. "M-Maybe I… would have f-friends… if… if my d-dad ever… let me go to school…" He sobbed weakly.

Nix stirred a bit when he was moved, but stayed asleep. "Y-Yeah… I… I just wish that I was able to have a n-normal life…"
