"Don't worry about it, Melissa. I'm the one who brought it up." Lucas smiled weakly.
"Don't worry about it, Melissa. I'm the one who brought it up." Lucas smiled weakly.
Nodding a little, she fell quiet for a couple of minutes as she finished off her pizza. "Are you feeling any better?" Melissa asked softly.
"A little bit, yeah… I'm probably dehydrated, so I'll have some more water and I'm sure I'll be fine." Lucas shrugged and drank a bit more of his water.
"Right… tell me if I can get you anything." Melissa mumbled, gathering his and her plates before getting up up wash them.
Lucas nodded a bit, continuing to drink his water. His head was less foggy now and he seemed to be focusing better.
Melissa quietly washed the dishes, humming to herself as she did. When washed off, she set them aside in the sink before leaning back against the counter with a soft sigh.
Lucas soon finished his water and stood up. He swayed in place for a second before carrying on as usual and going to wash his glass.
"You good?" Melissa asked when he got up. "I could have come and taken your glass for you."
"I'm fine. Just a head rush… I get them all the time." Lucas shrugged, rinsing out his glass and sticking it in the dishwasher.
Nodding a little, Melissa stayed leaning up against the counter. "If you're sure. I don't want you to be dying before my eyes."
"I'm perfectly alright, Melissa. I'm not gonna die any time soon." Lucas kissed Melissa softly.
"Mm good. I want to see you live to at least thirty. Preferably much longer." Melissa hummed, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Mhmm…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's and sighed. "Wanna go online puppy searching now?"
A smile pulled up on Melissa's lips, and she nodded a little. "I honestly almost forgot I told you. Do we wanna go up to my room?"
"Sure. Sounds good to me." Lucas smiled softly and pulled away so Melissa could take the lead.
Taking his hand, she slowly started to pull him along. "What kind of puppy do you want?"
"Um… probably a chocolate lab if possible. That's what my old dog was…"
"Mm, makes sense." Melissa hummed a little, starting up the stairs. "I also think they're super cute."
Lucas nodded a bit, trailing after Melissa into her room. He pulled out his phone while they were walking.
Once up the stairs, Melissa glanced back at him. "Where would we even look to get one?" She asked lightly, pushing her door open.
"You can find breeders and other adoptable dogs online." Lucas sat down on the bed and opened up (uhhh petfinder or something).
(Lol)
"Right. This seems more like your area of expertise, so I'll just sit here and pretend I know what you're doing." Melissa hummed softly, before sitting on the bed next to him.
"Sounds good to me." Lucas input a few qualifications into the site such as breed, general age, and location, and started searching. "Should we get a male or a female puppy?"
"I don't really have a preference. Besides the obvious, is there much of a difference between the two?" Melissa asked lightly, resting her head on his shoulder.
"No, not really…" Lucas hummed thoughtfully as he went through the pictures of puppies. "These ones are pretty close, actually. Only about… fifteen minutes from here, I'd say. By car, of course."
"Well, my dad would be going with us. So we'd definitely be taking a car. Mighty convenient, isn't it?" Melissa hummed a little, before laying back on her bed, legs stretched out behind him.
"Mhmm… what do you think?" Lucas held his phone out to Melissa. "There's a few of them listed there, so we could go and pick whichever one we connected with."
Smiling lightly, she reached out to take his phone. "They're cute. And I agree with you, going there and picking one makes the most sense." Melissa hummed, handing his phone back after a minute or so.
Lucas nodded and scrolled through the rest of the information. "They're up to date on their shots and stuff and they've all been fixed… seems good to me."
"So pictures are accurate, right?" Melissa asked lightly, forcing herself into a sitting position. "Because I think I might be a little disappointed if they weren't."
