hi i did a thing and now i'll go disappear for a long time
based off of the following image, but the entire image and writing will be spoilered for tw (blood and gun)

Blood. There was blood everywhere, and despite the downpour of rain, none of it was washing away. At least, not yet. As the creature who called himself Totoro approached the bustop, the blood from his wide, gaping mouth spilled out onto the pavement, some splattering onto the small, brown-haired girl who couldn’t have been more than 5 years old, and the others, coupled with some of the foreign objects that could’ve been body parts tumbled onto the ground. The girl, wide-eyed with tears, as she gripped tightly onto her bright red umbrella with her right hand and the gun clutched close to her body with her left. Though she did not know how it was used, or what she could do with it, having it with her brought a sort of comfort, that at least she’d have something to use, even if she wasn’t quite sure how it worked.

“Totoro,” she whispered softly as her whole body trembled with fear. “What happened to you? What happened to my soft, fluffy, forest spirit that let me fall asleep on his stomach?”

Totoro didn’t respond, instead, his bright red eyes, framed by an inky-black darkness, stared right on forward, and his long, bloodied, pointed fingers stayed right by his side.

The girl was afraid to look to her left, because she knew that if she did, she’d scream this time, because she knew she’d never get used to the sight of her dead (?) father with glowing white eyes, and his body twisted in a way a human shouldn’t be, and the bloodied remains of his disfigured bike nearby.

Just until the bus comes, Emma. You’ve got this. Just until the bus. Just until it comes, please, just until it comes… Don’t worry, you won’t have to stay here long. Just until it comes. Hold on, Emma, she tried to reassure herself, but nothing worked. She bit down on her lower lip, her eyes darting to the right, trying to see if she could find the blinding white lights of the bus coming up the road. But there were none. Come on, Emma! The bus’ll come soon, have faith in it.

Totoro growled softly, as if he was just as impatient as she was for the bus to arrive, and Emma jumped to the right, whimpering, but just barely audible.

He slowly turned his head to get a good look at the miniscule girl next to him. “Emma,” he growled, before reaching down towards Emma, who was unable to move in the terror that gripped her, with his bloody, bloody hands, and shoved her into his mouth.

She screamed, starting to struggle. “I don’t want to die!” she shouted, frantically pressing every button and potential button on the gun she held. As the gun went off, Emma crashed against the side of Totoro’s mouth, the gun’s recoil sending her backwards. “I don’t want to die…” she whispered one more time, as the injured mouth slowly consumed her flesh.

ah hey izzy! hope you're doing alright!!
I've gotta say, the writing was incredibly vivid and dark this week - much like the image, so the tone matches very well. You've really set the scene up beautifully, with the very specific descriptions (like of eyes, colours, just individual details) that I find tend to be emblematic of good horror writing. and I know I've been nitpicky about this before, so I'm just going to say that the layout is really neat here! Dialogue punctuation, paragraphing, etc is all top tier this time. I don't think I caught a single typo.
my heart hurts a bit now, since the entire thing is rather bleak and surreal and terrifying with no happy resolution, but I'm assuming that was intentional? so well done on that!
One thing I noticed is that there's quite the long, convoluted sentence early in the first paragraph that took me a few reads to sort through. so I'd maybe recommend unraveling that one a bit? Generally I notice that you use several long sentences (later, there are two paragraphs that are just made up of one sentence). which aren't inherently wrong at all! They just tend to need extra attention to make sure we don't lose track of what's happening along the way.
but yeah. thanks so much for sharing!! I'm not quite sure if and when you'll see this, since you mentioned you might be disappearing again, but this was a lovely read and I'm glad to see you're still writing!

ah ha! writing!!! for once!! shout out to the lovely zesty eggmcmuffin(circe) for her boy asher, featured here. felt like writing a short scene touching on backstories, and babe's nonchalant and scatterbrained attitude felt kinda perfect for keeping it away from overwhelmingly sad

i am back! with words! crocs inspired me to do a similar scene between our two lovebirds, so this is what we have from me lmao. sorry if its low-quality, i'm still getting back into the swing of things.

i'm doing a series of global mythology assignments that involve writing a diary entry in the pov of a character. i have picked probably my most apathetic but chaotic ancient character (~20,000 yrs) to write for, and this is the first entry 'she' has written

i very much recommend you do if you get the chance, or feel up to it! things like this are a great way to improve your own writing/art, and to get out there! there's also a huge sense of accomplishment in seeing your own work on the pages of an actual magazine, which is one heck of a boost
