"Mhmm." Lucas swallowed and gently kissed Melissa. "Are you done eating?" He asked softly.
"Mhmm." Lucas swallowed and gently kissed Melissa. "Are you done eating?" He asked softly.
"Yeah. Like I said, I'm not super hungry. But I ate something." Melissa told him softly after he had kissed her, giving a light smile. "It's better then nothing."
"True. You can have more later." Lucas grabbed another slice of pizza and started eating it, humming to himself.
Nodding, she brushed crumbs into a small pile before folding her arms on the table. "Mhmm. We're also going to get ice cream, so there's that."
"Mhmm. I'm excited about that." Lucas smiled. "What's your favorite flavor? What should I try?"
"Mm, I don't know…" Melissa hummed, resting her head on her arms. "I like blackberry, and peanut-butter fudge ice creams… though I'm not sure what you'd like."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I tend to like fruity stuff, so I might try the blackberry…" He took another bite of his pizza.
Looking up at him, Melissa smiled softly. "Mm, well if you like fruity, that narrows things down."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I'm sure I'll be able to find something I like there if they have as many flavors as you say."
"I'm hoping they have a lot of flavors, at least." Melissa hummed, yawning a little. "I honestly really just want to get a waffle cone of blackberry ice cream. It sounds really good right now."
"Mm. I might get the same if it's good." Lucas finished his pizza slice and sighed a bit. "Should we get a box now?"
"Oh, probably." Melissa hummed, getting up from her seat. "Who's paying, for lunch? Are we both?"
"I'm happy to pay." Lucas pulled out his wallet. "It's only about fifteen dollars, anyway."
“You’re sure? I don’t want to make you.” Melissa replied, reaching out a hand to take his.
"Yes, it's fine, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and paid when the waiter returned. "They might give me free ice cream at the shop because it's my birthday."
"That's a possibility." Melissa hummed, putting the leftovers in a to-go box. "And even if you don't, I'll pay for ice cream."
Lucas sighed softly. "I guess I'm not gonna be allowed to pay for that too?" He moved out of Melissa's way.
"Nope. I want to get to pay for something, and you paid for lunch. It seems only fair, to me." Melissa hummed a little, closing the box.
"Alright, alright…" Lucas smiled softly and got up, holding out his hand to help Melissa up.
Smiling back, she took his hand and stood. "You don't mind, do you?" Melissa hummed as she picked up the box so they could leave.
"I'll get over it." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek and walked out the door.
"Mm, alright…" Melissa hummed, letting him lead them out. "The ice cream shop is a little bit of a walk from here, but it's worth it."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Well, I'll let you lead since I haven't been there before."
Melissa mirrored his actions, by nodding as well. "Alright, I can do that."
Lucas looked around as they walked, humming contentedly to himself. "It's really nice outside."
"Hm?" Melissa hummed, glancing over to him. "Oh- yeah, it is nice… I'm sorry if I seem distant. I just keep getting lost in thought."
"Thinking about anything in particular?" Lucas asked curiously, turning his attention to Melissa.
"I- yeah… I guess so." Melissa shrugged before glancing over to him. "Nothing important, though."
Lucas hesitated before nodding a bit. I guess she doesn't want to tell me… "Alright."
When he didn't ask what about, she let out a mental sigh of relief. Most of her current thoughts were about everything going on back at the house. She couldn't really tell him she had a surprise back at the house. Though she noted his dejected state. "I- I didn't hurt your feelings, did I?"
