Lucas flushed, looking up at Melissa and whining softly. "Nooooo…" He whined playfully. "M'not cute…"
Lucas flushed, looking up at Melissa and whining softly. "Nooooo…" He whined playfully. "M'not cute…"
"But you are, you're so sweet." Melissa argued back, pouting a little. "You can be cute, and handsome, at the same time."
Lucas flushed harder, turning his eyes to the table. "B-But my heart always gets all fluttery when you say that…" He whined.
"How do you think I feel, when you say I'm pretty?" Tucking hair back behind her ear, she gave him a little smile. "If you really don't want me to say it, I won't. But I'll think it, and there isn't much you can do about that."
Lucas sighed softly and closed his eyes, his face still very flushed. "I know… I can't help but be flustered, though…"
"I know… and I knew that would happen, but I didn't stop myself. I really do have no self-control." Melissa mumbled with a weak sigh.
"Mel, don't feel bad. It's not your fault." Lucas smiled softly as he looked up at her again.
"Mm, it's fifty-fifty. I know you get flustered easily." Melissa hummed, seeing a waiter come out with their food. "I just can't help myself."
Lucas glanced up at the waiter and thanked them before turning back to Melissa. "I know you can't. It's alright, really."
"I still feel bad." Melissa mumbled, reaching out to take a plate. Setting one in front of him, she pulled the other close to her. "But not bad enough to stop."
Lucas snickered a bit and grabbed himself a slice of pizza. "Course not." He took a bite of the pizza, humming softly.
"It only seems fair. If you get to tell me you think I look cute, I get to tell you the same." Melissa further elaborated, getting her own food. "Right?"
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "Of course not. I get exclusive rights to complimenting you." He teased, taking another bite of pizza.
Melissa huffed and rolled her eyes. "That's not fair… I have to keep all of this to myself?" She mumbled, starting to eat slowly.
Lucas grinned a bit. "Why, of course. That's totally reasonable."
Continuing to pout, Melissa sulked in silence as she ate. She knew he was joking. She herself was joking, as well. "That's not fair…"
"Don't pout, darling. Smiles look far nicer on you." Lucas smiled softly, brushing his thumb against Melissa's cheek.
Taken by surprise, it took her a moment to relax into his touch. A small smile pulled up, as she sighed and leaned in to his touch. "I guess I'll have to smile for you."
"Mhmm! It's my birthday, after all~" Lucas purred, cupping Melissa's cheek in his hand.
"Mm, I think I can manage that much, at least." Melissa hummed, her pout gone. "And honestly, I'm surprised you haven't tried to use that card more. You know, you could get a lot out of me because it's your birthday."
"Mm. I try not to abuse my power too much." Lucas smiled softly and leaned back so he could keep eating.
Melissa smiled a little, nodding. "That's the makings of a great leader, right there. That's one of the many reasons why I think your coach made you captain."
Lucas blushed a bit, still smiling. "Y-Yeah… I hope I do well. I think the guys will listen to me, anyway."
"I mean, why wouldn't they?" Melissa hummed, her smile quite relaxed. "You've not given them any reason to disrespect you."
"True… I'm not as much of a pushover as I used to be, so hopefully they won't try to take advantage of me." He took another bite of his pizza.
"I seriously doubt they'd try that. Unless they're jerky to begin with." Melissa hummed, copying him and started to eat again.
"No, they're okay… I don't think they would, I'm just… a little paranoid, you know?" Lucas laughed weakly.
"Oh, naturally. I mean, you've never been put in that situation before." Melissa added on, shrugging a bit. "Though from what I've seen, you're doing a good job."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I wanna make coach proud. I'm gonna try my best to be a good captain despite how nervous it makes me."
"And you will make him proud. I'm sure of it." Melissa hummed, pushing her empty plate aside. "I'd kiss you, but you're in the middle of eating."
