Halm gently put his hand on Cas's head again.
"Anyone would be," he said softly. Cas's father had been horrible.
Halm gently put his hand on Cas's head again.
"Anyone would be," he said softly. Cas's father had been horrible.
Cas nuzzled up against Halm a bit and sighed, soon relaxing again at Halm's gentle touch.
(Y'all really don't wanna know where my gutter mind went when Cas said that, you really don't lmao)
(why the hell- now I can't get this out of my mind. Thanks)
(:D you're welcome ;))
Halm held Cas a bit longer than before, focusing on him. Eventually, though, he had to continue with his work.
Cas didn't watch this time, not wanting to see something like the car crash again. He didn't do too well with that kind of thing.
Halm moved semi quickly through the flowers, and eventually they came to the one that held Cas's father. Halm hesitated a moment, then picked up a vessel to begin.
Cas glanced over and noticed what flower they were at. He tensed up and clung more tightly to Halm.
Halm wrapped his one arm completely around Cas.
"It's okay," he said softly. "He can't do anything."
"Are you… are you taking his memories…?" Cas asked softly.
"I am," Halm said gently. "It's what I have to do."
"And… and you can see all his memories while you're taking them?" He asked.
"I don't normally pay attention to all the memories," he explained. "Just the deaths…"
Cas nodded a bit. "He probably has a lot of memories with me…" He said softly.
Halm nodded a little. He carefully pulled Cas a little closer. He did his best not to watch these, it felt like he was prying into Cas's life.
Cas watched the memories himself, watching his father and mother argue, his younger self get beaten and ignored, himself arguing with his father and eventually leaving, and finally, his father drinking himself to death. He was crying softly by the end of it and was trembling a bit.
Halm eventually was able to pull the vessel away. He wrapped both arms around Cas, pulling him close.
"It's okay," Halm said softly. "He's gone. He went be able to do anything to anyone ever again."
Cas hiccuped and huddled close, fresh tears still rolling down his cheeks. "W-Why did he hate me so much…? What did I do?"
"You didn't do anything," Halm said quietly. He carefully wiped the tears away, being so gentle. "It was all because of him. He was the only one who did wrong."
Cas nodded weakly and clung to Halm as tightly as he could through the thick hoodie. "I don't… I-I don't remember ever meeting my mother… I don't even know if she's alive or not…"
Halm pulled Cas closer.
"I don't know either," Halm said softly. "But I know she wasn't there to protect you. You deserved so much better."
Cas rubbed at his eyes a bit, sniffling. "I-I'm sorry I start crying every time I kinda encounter my dad…"
"It's okay, Cas. I get how hard this has been for you." Halm carefully pulled away to be able to look at Cas's face.
Cas looked up at Halm weakly, his eyes still brimming with tears. He was still a bit shaky and he just looked like a broken little kid. "All I ever wanted was for him to care about me…"
"I know," Halm said gently. He cupped Cas's head gently in his hands. "I know, but he never did. He never did, but you deserved his love, and I'm so sorry he didn't give it to you."
Cas hiccuped and closed his eyes, just going limp so Halm could hold him. A couple fresh tears rolled down his pale cheeks.
Halm carefully wiped the new tears away. He pulled Cas closer, letting him rest against Halm's chest.
"You're gonna be okay here," he said softly.
Cas nodded a bit, exhaling shakily as he huddled close. "Do you have parents?" He asked.
"I…" Halm hesitated a bit before answering. "I have a Mother."
