"Alright… I'll just get cheese then. What size should we get? I don't know how much we want for leftovers…"
"Alright… I'll just get cheese then. What size should we get? I don't know how much we want for leftovers…"
"Maybe a twelve inch? So medium sized." Melissa hummed a little, tracing circles into his palm. "And then we still have leftovers, but not anything crazy."
Lucas nodded, watching Melissa's hand curiously. He looked up when the server came by and ordered a medium sized cheese pizza.
When Lucas finished ordering, and the server walked away, Melissa glanced up at his face with a smile. "I'm happy I can spend time with you, today…" She hummed a little, continuing to trace circles into his hand.
"Me too… it's nice being able to spend time with someone on my birthday." Lucas smiled softly. "Usually I just go to the clearing for the whole day and sleep there to make sure I don't encounter my dad at all."
"You know, you could have come over to my house." Melissa hummed a little, resting her hand. "But that aside, I'm hoping this is better than your usual birthday."
"Didn't wanna bother you." Lucas gently ran his thumb along the back of Melissa's hand. "And it wasn't so bad… but this is definitely a lot better."
Melissa felt her smile tug up a little higher, and tipped her head down. "Glad to hear that. Even if it isn't my birthday, I like this."
Lucas smiled as well. "I love you, Mel." He murmured softly. "Thanks for going to all this trouble for me."
Lifting her head back up, she nodded a bit. "It wasn't really any trouble. Maybe a little bit of work, but it was worth it if you're happy. And I love you, too."
"I am happy, but I do wish you didn't have to work for me." Lucas lifted Melissa's hand up and gently kissed her knuckles.
Cheeks growing warm, Melissa whined a little. "I'm not really working for you. I'm just here with you." She insisted, thinking about her dad back at the house. He had offered to set things up, which of course made her feel bad, but she couldn't exactly be in two places at once.
"Still. I want you to know that I appreciate the effort." Lucas smiled softly and rested his head against Melissa's hand while he looked up at her.
"It was totally worth it." Melissa hummed softly, using her other hand to run her fingers through his hair. "You're happy, and that's all I need in return."
Lucas closed his eyes and contentedly leaned into Melissa's touch. "I'm definitely happy… I would like to make it up to you somehow, though."
"Kissing me, and keeping me alive is enough for me." Melissa purred softly, leaning forward a little. "That's all I need, honest."
"Mm… well, I'll definitely try my best to keep you alive, and the kisses can be arranged~" Lucas gently kissed Melissa.
Melissa smiled, pulling back a little. "I mostly meant just telling me to eat. Don't put too much pressure on yourself." She hummed before leaning back in to kiss him, once more.
"Mmmm…" Lucas returned the kiss and leaned back, smiling. "I love you~" He purred.
Sitting back herself, she glanced him up and down with a little smile. "Love you too, mister." Melissa hummed softly, leaning on her arm for support.
Lucas flushed a bit and looked down at the table, still smiling. "I-I think the pizza will be here soon…"
"Mm, probably right." Melissa mumbled trying to suppress a yawn. "Once we finish lunch, would you want to go get ice cream?"
"Sure. Other than when I had the concussion, it's been years since I've had any." Lucas looked back up at Melissa.
"Now that's just sad. You never went and got ice cream with your team, after a good game?" Melissa asked him softly, starting to pet him once more.
"No, not really… sometimes I'd go along and have some fries, since we'd usually go to some cheap fast food place, but I never got ice cream."
"Well, then I'll take you somewhere with fancy ice cream. And by that, I mean with fresh waffle cones, and a ton of flavors. How does that sound?" Melissa hummed, giving a light smile.
"Ooh, waffle cones. Fancy." Lucas grinned. "You'll have to help me pick a flavor. You know I'm indecisive and I'll just end up with vanilla otherwise."
"I can do that," Melissa replied, her own bright smile pulling up. "That shouldn't be too difficult of a task."
"Sounds good to me~" Lucas closed his eyes and leaned into Melissa's hand again, smiling softly.
As he did so, she watched him with a soft look. "You're too cute…" Melissa commented mindlessly, starting to pull back.
