@Fraust

Lucas was sound asleep, of course. He was completely drained and could likely sleep through the whole day of he had enough meds on board. He was too deeply asleep to really try and hold onto Melissa.

As the next few minutes turned into an hour or so, the soft click of Melissa's door was heard. Mr. Brennahan was carrying two plates, and glanced over at the bed with a soft smile. Carrying the two dishes over to Melissa's desk, he set them aside and let a soft smile pull up. "Hey you two… time to get up." He told them softly, shaking Melissa's shoulder just a little bit. Stirring a little, she only rolled over and buried her face in Lucas's shoulder.

@Fraust

Lucas stayed dead asleep, not moving at all aside from his breathing, which was slow and relaxed. He hadn't slept this well in a good long while.

Sighing softly, Mr. Brennahan tried again. He felt bad, but he wanted to make sure they ate something. "Come on, it's time to get up." He insisted with a little more force. "Mm… but I'm sleepy…" Melissa mumbled as she turned back over. "And Lucas is exhausted…"

@Fraust

Lucas stirred a bit and huddled into the covers more, whining softly. He winced when he moved, clearly already sore from falling down the stairs.

Leaning down, he kissed the top of Melissa's head with another sigh. "But you need to eat dinner. I don't want to have to make you get up, but your day will really be messed up tomorrow if you don't…" Mr. Brennahan whispered, as he kneeled down in front of the bed. "Mm, I'm okay with that… If I get up early, I can finish my homework." She mumbled a little, before burying her face into the sheets. "I'll get up later. Lucas needs to sleep." Melissa insisted, face pressed up against one of her pillows. With another sigh, he gave in to her protests, and began to walk out. "Well, make sure you eat at some point."

(If we timeskip now, do we want to do it a few days/ weeks, up to Lucas's 'surprise party'?)

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

(Ahh, I was thinking maybe Melissa could be dragging him around town, taking him to places he likes/enjoys, and then back to her house for a small ‘party’)
(So probably earlier in the day, leading on into the evening.)

@Fraust

(Sounds good to me!)
"Where are we going, Mel?" Lucas asked after they'd spent a few hours at the clearing. He'd honestly forgotten that it was his birthday anyways, so he wasn't sure why they were even doing this.

“I can’t tell youuu~” Melissa hummed, glancing back at him with a huge smile. “It’s a surprise, and I want to keep it that way.” She stated as she continued to pull him along. Melissa had planned the whole day out a week or so ago, and was beaming either excitement as she pulled him along.

@Fraust

Lucas sighed softly. "Alright, alright… continue leading the way, then." He glanced around as they walked, trying to get some context clues to figure out where they were going.

Melissa was taking him to the sunflower field, but a different way. She didn’t want him to see his house, just in case it brought back bad memories. So having spent hours trying to find a way to get there, she finally did. They were approaching it, and Melissa couldn’t keep from her perky mood, and half skipping as she pulled him along.

@Fraust

Lucas looked around, confused. He recognized this place, of course, but why were they here? He figured that he and Melissa would go to the sunflower field at some point, but usually that sort of thing would be decided by him, or at least they'd consult with each other.

Glancing back at him, she relaxed her smile a little and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “You’re not mad that we came here, are you?” Melissa asked softly, leading him on over to a patch where she had a picnic blanket set up. “If you are- I’m really sorry… I just wanted to surprise you.”

@Fraust

"No, no… I'm not mad. It's okay. I just didn't expect to be here today." Lucas went over and sat down with Melissa, gently brushing his fingers against the sunflower stalks as he walked by them.

Melissa nodded, sitting down on the red and white blanket with a soft sigh. "I just… I wanted to make today special for you. You're seventeen now, and I thought I could try to make this a birthday you wouldn't forget… hopefully it goes the way I have planned."

@Fraust

Lucas smiled softly and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "I'm sure it'll be great, Mel. I love you~…" He murmured softly. "How do you like the sunflowers?"

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"Mm, I love you too." Melissa hummed softly, resting her head on his. "And they're gorgeous. I've always loved the color yellow." She admitted in a soft tone as she laced their fingers together.

@Fraust

Lucas looked around at the flowers, sighing happily. "I love this place…" He hummed softly to himself, steadily relaxing.

@Fraust

Lucas nodded a bit, tightening his grip on Melissa's hand. "Claus and I used to play hide and seek in here all the time."

@Fraust

Lucas flushed a bit, still smiling. "Yeah, we got into a lot of trouble. Mostly I'd just go along with his stupid ideas and we'd both get in trouble. Hide and seek was one of the most innocent things we regularly did. I was a pretty pure kid, but Claus was always stirring up trouble of some kind."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

"I remember that much… luckily I was rarely around when he decided to get into trouble." Melissa murmured softly, holding on to his hand tightly. "Though I didn't need much help on that part. I remember the few times me and Gabriel got into real trouble."

@Fraust

"Yeah…" Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek softly. "Claus would find a random rope in the garage, tie it around my waist, and then we'd play 'rock climbing'. Rock climbing usually meant he'd drop the rope and I'd have to climb back up."

@Fraust

"Well, he didn't let go immediately. He'd hold out for a while, but we were like, seven. He could only hold my weight for so long." Lucas laughed softly. "I was always fine. I only sprained my ankle once, and that was the last time we played that game since we got chewed out by mom."

@Rainy_day_artist_classic group

Melissa dropped her shoulders, sighing weakly. "She's not the only one. If this was happening now, you best believe I'd beat the crap out of Claus." She said with a slight huff. "Honestly, I don't understand boys. You find the strangest things fun."

@Fraust

Lucas laughed a bit. "For the record, I was never a big fan of the game, but Claus was stronger than me. If he wanted to tie a rope around my waist and propel me down a cliff, he could. I was also a pushover."
