(Sounds good to me)
Lucas was still sound asleep after an hour, sinking into the bed. He yawned a bit and stirred, but didn't wake yet.
With a large majority of her homework done, and complete lack of willpower to do anymore, Melissa made her way back up the stairs. She hated the quiet of the house, knowing she could be with someone. Even though she felt bad about it, she really wanted to wake Lucas up. He would need to sleep tonight, and he could be awaken by his own nightmares sometime soon. She didn't want that to happen. Whether for her own tiredness, or for his well-being wasn't quite clear. So pushing her door open, she glanced over at the bed with a hesitant look.
Lucas was smiling softly in his sleep, clearly comfortable for the moment. He yawned and tightened his grip on the sheets.
Coming up to the bed, she watched him carefully. Part of her realized her selfish behavior, but the other part tried to rationalize her want for waking him up. So in compromise with herself, she started to gently pet the top of his head. If he woke up, then he woke up. If he didn't- well she would decide what to do then.
Lucas leaned into her hand in his sleep, relaxing further and smiling a bit brighter. "Mmm…"
She felt a ginger smile pull up, and continued to pet him. He was honestly too cute. With a light sigh, Melissa leaned back into her bed frame humming softly to herself.
Lucas's subconscious seemed to enjoy being pet almost as much as he normally did when he was awake. He pushed himself into Melissa's touch, seeming content.
"He really is like a cat… my baby kitten." Melissa cooed, as she felt him lean in to her hand. She would never have said it if he was awake, but right now she didn't need to worry about making him flustered.
Lucas nuzzled into Melissa's hand, yawning a bit and huddling close. He hummed happily in his sleep, seeming happy.
Melissa couldn't help but giggle a little as he nestled up against her. It was quite out of character, but he was being cute. "You're so sweet…" Melissa purred a little, continually running her fingers through his hair.
Lucas stirred a bit and eventually opened his eyes. "Mmmm… Melissa…?"
"Hey kitty," Melissa hummed softly, keeping up her smile. "How was your nap?"
Lucas flushed a bit at the nickname and looked up at Melissa, confused. "Kitty? W-Where did that one come from?"
Melissa snickered a little, leaning down to kiss his forehead. "Don't worry about it." She hummed a little as she pulled back.
"Um… I'm very worried about it, but uh… I guess I digress. What time is it? How long have I been out?"
"Seriously, don't worry. But it's been about an hour, and it's around four thirty." Melissa hummed, continuing to pet his head.
"Mm…" Lucas closed his eyes and relaxed into Melissa's touch. "Okay… I thought I was supposed to wake up around dinner?"
"I got bored… and I wasn't exactly trying to wake you up." Melissa hummed softly, starting to chew on her bottom lip. "I just… wanted to be near you."
Lucas nodded and yawned a bit, shifting a bit to be more comfortable. "Mmmm… makes sense. Do you need me for anything?"
"Keeping me company. It's so quiet in the house…" Melissa replied a little too quickly, noting her own anxiousness. "But if you want to go back to sleep, please do. Don't let me get in the way of that."
"I can't guarantee I won't fall back asleep, but you're welcome to join me on the bed. It's yours, after all."
"I would rather have you sleep than keep me company, anyways." Melissa mumbled, slipping down so she was lying down next to him. "You need sleep more than I need company."
"Don't be like that, Mel… I'm glad to keep you company, I'm just not very good at it right now." Lucas smiled weakly.
Sighing softly, she nodded a bit before resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry- I feel like I'm guilt tripping you, by trying not to." Melissa admitted, with a soft laugh.
"Mmm…" Lucas closed his eyes and rested his head against Melissa's. He was still exhausted, but he didn't want to fall back asleep right now.
"I honestly love you a lot. I feel bad for waking you up." Melissa whispered, tilting her head back to kiss his cheek softly.
"It's okay, Mel…" Lucas returned the kiss weakly, his eyes still closed. He huddled close and yawned a bit.
Nodding a little, she felt a soft smile pull up when he kissed her. Though it was difficult, Melissa kept quiet. She was happy enough to be curled up next to him.
Lucas soon drifted back off to sleep, sticking close to Melissa. His head was aching, but falling asleep numbed the pain.
When she felt him drift back off, she sighed softly. It was best to let him sleep for a little while longer. She'd get up to make dinner in a little bit, and when it was finished, only then would she wake him up again. Though if that plan was going to work or not, was hazy. Melissa was starting to feel drained as she lay here. It was nice… just being close to him. And before she knew it, she had also drifted off next to him.
