Lucas sighed softly as he looked up at Melissa. "Would you eat something now, Mel? Just a snack or something?"
Lucas sighed softly as he looked up at Melissa. "Would you eat something now, Mel? Just a snack or something?"
Melissa nodded softly, barely looking up at him. "As long as you won't be mad at me. I'm really sorry."
"I'm not mad at you, Mel. I'm just worried about you." He tilted her chin up to kiss her softly. "I just wanna make sure you're healthy and safe."
Face flushing a bit, she studied his face before resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry… you already have enough to worry about, I shouldn't be one of them."
Lucas smiled weakly. "It's alright, Mel. I happen to care about you a great deal, so I don't mind worrying about your wellbeing."
"But you shouldn't have to. If I'm taking care of you, you'd think I would be able to keep myself in check." Melissa whispered, still feeling guilty.
"Well, if you're so busy worrying about me, you don't have as much time for yourself, do you?" Lucas smiled weakly.
“Mm, I hate that you’re right.” She mumbled in a teasing tone. “I should probably get up and grab something to eat, right?”
"Yeah, probably. It'd make me feel a little better, at least." He kissed her softly again.
“Alright, I’ll go grab something.” Melissa whispered, kissing him back. “You want anything?”
"Mm… maybe just some water. I wouldn't want to get dehydrated while I'm concussed."
“That is very true.” Melissa hummed, pecking his forehead as she got up. “I’ll grab you some water.”
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas sighed softly and leaned back against the couch to wait.
After grabbing herself a little something to eat, and Lucas a glass of water, she made her way back into the the living room. “You’re sure I can’t get you anything else?” Melissa asked softly, sitting next to him on the couch.
"I'm fine for now, Mel. We'll be having dinner in a few hours anyway." Lucas sipped his water and hummed softly to himself.
Nodding a bit, she started to pick at the small bowl of trail mix she had. "Alright." Melissa hummed, curling up next to him.
Lucas rested his head against Melissa's and sighed. "I love you~…" He murmured softly.
"Love you too…" Melissa replied, tilting her head back so she could gently kiss his cheek. "I'm sorry I was bad, and didn't eat."
"You're not bad, Mel. I've done way worse than that and you still forgive me every time."
Melissa sighed softly and nodded a little as she continued to eat. "I guess that's true…" She mumbled a little.
Lucas smiled softly, drinking more of her water. "I just want the best for you, Mel."
Melissa couldn't help but smile, using her free hand to hold on to his. "And I want the same for you. Though it doesn't seem to matter my want."
"It does matter, Mel. I care a lot about what you think." Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek. "I just disappoint you a lot…"
"Hey, you don't disappoint me." Melissa said softly, lifting her head to look at him. "Worry me, of course. But you don't disappoint me."
Lucas sighed softly. "You just want me to be safe and I get hurt all the time."
"But half the time it isn't your own fault." Melissa insisted, setting the bowl aside and gently cupping his face in her hands. "You getting hit by the ball wasn't your fault. Sliding down the cliff wasn't your fault. You getting beat by your dad, was definitely not your fault."
"The cliff was kinda my fault… I was being dumb." Lucas sighed softly as he looked up at Melissa. "And falling down the stairs was also kinda me being dumb."
"You told me that a rock slipped from under your foot. Don't go changing it on me now." Melissa told him with a light laugh. Before pulling him into a hug, she kissed his forehead sweetly. "And yeah, going down the stairs was kind of dumb. But you were just trying not to bug my dad."
"The rock did slip, but I shouldn't have been climbing to begin with." Lucas returned the hug and lay his head on Melissa's shoulder.
"But you wanted to. And while you were up there, you seemed happy." Melissa hummed, leaning in to him a little. "I would have told you not to, but I just didn't. So it was partially my fault."
