Lucas shrugged a bit. "I think he came in to check on me real quick before the call. When he left me, I was sleeping. He just kinda ended up staying longer than he anticipated…"
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I think he came in to check on me real quick before the call. When he left me, I was sleeping. He just kinda ended up staying longer than he anticipated…"
"I guess… that makes sense." Melissa mumbled a bit, glancing up to study his face. "You're really alright, though? Is there anything I can do for you?" She asked him as she started to get back up.
"I'm okay. He was being really nice. It… it was honestly kind of a strange experience for me, you know? I'm not used to a sort of… um… fatherly care, I guess."
"Yeah… it's gonna be a hard thing to get use to." Melissa said softly, grabbing her bag. "Oh, I got your homework for all of your classes." She mentioned, standing in front of him as she pulled her bag on.
"Thanks, Mel. I'll probably try to get it done once I can see more clearly… should we head in?" Lucas asked, looking up at Melissa from where he was sitting.
"We don't have to… I'm just really thirsty. I was going to set my bag inside, and grab something to drink." Melissa hummed, picking up his plate and glass. "Can I get you anything?"
"No, I'm okay… you just want to sit out here?" Lucas asked, cocking his head to the side a bit. "I'm fine with anything, honestly."
"That's fine with me… I just want to be where you are right now. I've also had… a long day." Melissa mumbled with a light sigh. "I just want to get to be with you. I haven't seen you in literal hours. I didn't even get to say goodbye this morning."
Lucas smiled weakly. "Will you tell me about your day when you get back, Mel? It'll be nice to talk again. Sorry I woke up so late."
"Of course." Melissa replied, pulling up a smile as she stacked the dishes. Leaning down, she pecked his lips with a smile. "I'll be back in just a minute."
Lucas returned the kiss with a soft sigh. "I'll be looking forward to your return, milady."
Melissa laughed lightly, heading inside with little difficulty. Once inside, she set the dishes in the sink and quickly headed upstairs to drop her bag off.
Lucas sat back and sighed softly, waiting patiently for Melissa to come back outside.
Once she had grabbed a drink for herself, she headed back up to the front door. Pushing it open, Melissa stepped out and shut the door behind her. "Alright, back."
"Welcome back. So, how was your day?" Lucas asked, looking over at Melissa to give her his full attention."
Sitting back down next to him, she rested her head on his shoulder. "Long." She stated with a light groan. "Especially since you weren't there."
"Sorry, Mel…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's. "It wasn't too bad though, was it? Did you tell Laura what happened?"
"Mhmm… it went quite well, actually." Melissa hummed, feeling a smile pull up when he rested his head against hers. "She was a little surprised, but nothing too serious."
Lucas nodded a bit. "The teachers probably noticed I was gone… they know I would never skip. Coach probably told them what happened, though."
"Yeah, I went to explain, and they said your coach had already told the principal about it." Melissa hummed, relaxing into his shoulder.
"Alright, cool… how hard is the homework?" He asked softly, relaxing as well.
"Mm… harder than last year's, but only just slightly. It's really not that bad." Melissa hummed softly, lacing their fingers together. "You know, I just realized we never went to the clearing yesterday."
"Well, I did sort of get a concussion." Lucas smiled softly. "Your dad is chill and all, but after the fiasco today, I don't think he'd be okay with us going to the clearing. I could pass out or something and what would you do then?"
"I know- I just… I had been hoping to get to go. But clearly you can't." Melissa sighed, glancing up at him. "And I'd feel weird going by myself."
"You're welcome to go if you want to, but like I said, I don't think your dad would be too keen on me going." Lucas laughed softly.
Melissa hummed, lifting her head, she nuzzled his cheek with her nose gently. "Yeahhhh, I know." She sighed with a light smile.
Lucas returned the smile and softly kissed Melissa. "Maybe in a couple of days."
"Mm, yeah maybe…" Melissa whispered before kissing him back. "Would you be offended if I ended up going without you at some point?"
"Hopelessly crushed." Lucas put his hand over his heart and sighed dramatically. "Not really, though. Go if you want to."
Melissa snickered softly, using her free hand to twist a strand of hair around her finger. "I might tomorrow. Just to have some quiet time before coming home."
