They soon made it inside and got Lucas into the nurse's office, where the nurse quickly started checking him over. "He definitely has a concussion… it doesn't seem to be too severe, though."
Gnawing on her bottom lip, she listened to what the nurse had to say. "That's… that's not great. But better than I thought." Melissa sighed softly.
The nurse grabbed some ice for Lucas to hold on his cheek and sighed. "He'll be alright, but he needs to rest a couple days."
"I guess I should call my dad then." Melissa mumbled, pulling her phone out. "Where's your stuff, Lu?" She asked softly, resting a hand on his knee.
"Um… I think it's in the locker room… I can go with you to get it or you can make one of the guys do it."
"I can just go ask one of them to do it." Melissa told him softly, giving him a smile. "You can barely walk."
"Right…" Lucas sighed softly. "They know what my bag looks like, so you shouldn't have to worry about that…"
"Will you be alright, waiting here?" Melissa asked, studying his now bruised face.
"I'll be fine… I've got the nurse here anyways." Lucas kept the ice on his cheek with a soft sigh.
"Well, I'll have my dad come pick us up. I'll be back, in like five minutes." She hummed, pulling back to go find someone to help her.
Lucas nodded. "Alright, see you soon…" He touched the ice to his cheek and winced.
Quickly she headed out to the field to gather her things. After asking someone to grab his things for her, and they had, she thanked his teammate and headed back to the nurse's office. Phone held to her ear, she explained why she needed her father to pick them up as calmly as she could. "He's fine, dad. Just got hit with a ball, nothing to worry about." She hummed, stepping in and setting both bags on the floor.
Lucas waved to Melissa and adjusted his grip on the ice. There was a deep bruise blooming on his cheek now, which wasn't bringing back the best of memories, but he tried to keep those repressed.
Giving him a sweet smile, she listened to her father for a moment. "Alright, see you in a few minutes. Love you." She told him, pulling her phone back and hanging up. "How you feeling?"
"Um… I've got a horrible headache and my cheek hurts and the memories aren't great, but I think I'm okay." Lucas shrugged. "Thanks for getting my stuff."
"Thank your teammate. He was super sweet about it." Melissa hummed, sitting down next to him. "What a way to start the school year."
"What a way to start the school year indeed…" Lucas sighed and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "The pain meds haven't kicked in yet…"
"I'm sure they will soon." Melissa told him softly, kissing the top of his head. "When we get back, I want you to lie down on my bed. No excuses."
Lucas sighed again, closing his eyes. "What's wrong with the couch? Or your brother's room?"
"One, my brother is home now. Two, you need an actual bed." Melissa hummed, resting her head back against the wall. "Three, I want to get to baby you."
Lucas blushed a bit and hesitated. "Alright, alright… I just don't want your parents to get mad or anything…"
"My dad is okay with this, remember?" Melissa hummed, reaching up to gently run her fingers through his hair. "As long as I'm not cuddled up next to you, we won't have to worry."
Lucas nodded. "I know, I know… but we can't forget about your mother. She might not be too keen on the idea."
“Well, I want to get to take care of you. So she’ll have to get over it.” Melissa insisted, seeming quite confident. Maybe a little bit too much. “I’ll sleep out on the couch tonight. No big deal.”
(Is it bad that I keep just doodling them together? Because I’m doing a full drawing right now, and like- they’re too cute.)
(I wanna seeee)
"Mel, I don't want you to have to sleep on the couch…" Lucas sighed softly. "You gotta sleep in your own bed."
(I'll get a link up in a few minutes lol)
"No, I'm serious. I want you to sleep in my room. You got hurt, I really don't want you sleeping on the couch." Melissa insisted, taking his hand.
(Cute ^^)
"But Mel…" Lucas whined. "I don't want you sleeping on the couch either…"
(Mmm, thank you!)
"I'm not going to argue with you, I really want you to sleep in a bed." Melissa stated, dropping the subject. "Now, when we get back, what do you need me to do for you?"
