"That… that's actually a very true statement. I feel like everyone's thought that statement at least once before." Melissa hummed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"That… that's actually a very true statement. I feel like everyone's thought that statement at least once before." Melissa hummed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I suppose so." Lucas rested his head on Melissa's and sighed. "But like… me? Hot? I'd never put those two together unless I've just overheated and passed out."
Melissa laughed lightly, tilting her head up a bit. "I mean- I'd say a man in a uniform is quite attractive." She hummed and gently kissed the top of his hand.
Lucas flushed again and whined. "Mel~…" He whined. "You promised~…"
Sighing softly, she looked up at him with a light smile. "Sorry- I didn't even mean it like that… I was just trying to explain."
"Yeah, right." Lucas rolled his eyes playfully, unable to keep himself from grinning a bit.
Lifting her head up, she shoved on his arm a little bit. "Come on, I wouldn't lie to you."
"I think you just wanted to see me blush again." Lucas booped Melissa's nose.
"I would never." Melissa responded dramatically, holding a hand to her chest in mock offense. "I can't believe you would think that."
Lucas stuck his tongue out again. "Even if it wasn't your intention, you knew it would."
Smiling a guilty smile, Melissa leaned in and pecked his cheek. "Maybe… though, let me say that you're pretty- wait. Never mind."
Lucas huffed indignantly. "Noooo." He laughed a bit and kissed Melissa's cheek in return.
"I love you~" She hummed, leaning into his soft kiss. "And I hope you know that."
"I love you too, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and walked out through the doors.
Melissa sighed a bit, keeping up her smile. "I'm assuming you don't want your teammates to know?"
"Probably not yet, no." Lucas's smile weakened and he reluctantly let go of Melissa's hand.
"Well, then have a good practice. I'll be up in the bleachers if you need me." She hummed softly, turning his hat so it was on crooked. "Go get 'em."
Lucas growled playfully and grinned as he waved. He fixed his hat and headed out on the field.
Making her way up the bleachers, she dropped her backpack down before sitting down herself. Once settled, she pulled out the same notebook from before and went back to writing in it.
Lucas started off with just tossing a baseball back and forth with one of his teammates, but they soon started playing a mock game.
Her mind wandered, and she started to watch. Her mind wasn't really picking anything up, so she wouldn't even notice if you were trying to get her attention.
Eventually, Lucas was up to bat. He hit the ball and started running. At some point while he was running, he looked over his shoulder and got hit by the baseball. He got knocked backwards and lay dazed on the ground.
As her mind started to click, she noticed that he was lying on the ground and stood up bolt right. When he wasn't moving, she quickly made her way down the bleachers and out on to the field. "Lucas?"
His teammates headed over to check on him. He seemed mostly okay, but his cheek was badly bruised and he was still pretty dazed.
Trying to get through to him, she peered around the others to see if he was alright. As she saw the forming bruise, she froze up. "Is- is he okay?"
"Uhhhh… yeah, he's probably fine. C'mon, Luke. Sit up." One of the guys pushed Lucas into a sitting position while Lucas groaned softly.
It killed her not to be able to help, but she didn't want to seem desperate. Giving him a worried look, she stepped back so she wouldn't be in the way.
"We might wanna take him to the nurse." A couple of the guys dragged Lucas to his feet and started pulling him inside. "This kid is unbelievably accident prone."
When the nurse was mentioned, Melissa perked up a bit. "I- can I come with you?" She asked softly, following after the couple guys.
"Sure, go ahead." They kept dragging Lucas inside. He seemed to be trying to walk, but he was struggling to hold his own weight.
