He looked at her softly and gently took her hands. ”Betty, I love you but you don't have to do that. I don't want to lose you. Or hurt you.” he said gently.

She sighed " you want this ly more than you want me" she said

He shook his head at that. ”No. I don't want it that much. You are the most important part of my life and I would do anything to make you happy.”

" you can be human you can have the life you always wanted"

”Maybe… But the life I want now is with you. I won't deny that being human does sound nice but if it means that we can't be together then I don't want to be that way again.”

Evan choked on his drink at that news.

”You what?” Lysander exclaimed, looking at her in complete surprise. ”Why would you have those? Betty, my angel, I’ve been happiest the I’ve ever been with you. I won't leave you or the kids.”

" I've had them for a long time'' she said

”Why? Why do you have them?” he asked again. ”Are you that unhappy with our marriage?”

She grabbed his hand pulling him to the kitchen

Once they were out of sight, Evan mumbled. ”I hope those papers aren't because of me.”

" she's had them before you" tyler said

Betty sighed looking at lysander

“That doesn’t make me feel better.” Evan sighed.

Lysander looked back at her. ”Why do you have divorce papers?” he asked, trying to stay calm.

"After we got married I got them" she said

Lysander was understandably surprised by that. ”Wh… Why?” he asked looking down at his hands.

She held onto his hands " every guy I've ever loved left me I was just trying to prepare myself"

He sighed a little, just the tiniest bit relieved. ”So… It had nothing to do with me accidentally burning you when my pyrokinesis kicked in?”

She pulled her hair away to show the scar from his powers

He winced, still ashamed of himself that he had hurt her. ”I’m so sorry about that.”

" I know" she said

Honestly, he still hadn't forgiven himself for the burn.

She leaned up and placed a gentle kiss on his jaw

He smiled softly at the kiss and gently wrapped his arms around her. ”Is everything alright, now?” he asked hopefully.

She nodded softly

He sighed in relief and kissed her forehead. ”I didn't mean to upset you when I made that comment about being human. I’d rather stay a vampire and stay with you than anything else.”

" it won't work on me you have to be pure vampire" she said

He nodded and held her closer. ”Then I won't ask to change again. I love you and will always stay with you.”
