"I'm assuming, because of your dad? Did he really not like that?" Melissa asked Lucas softly, pushing herself into a standing position.
"I'm assuming, because of your dad? Did he really not like that?" Melissa asked Lucas softly, pushing herself into a standing position.
"You know he's suspicious of everything. And he also doesn't like me having fun. He'd have taken it from me and I couldn't risk that."
Sighing weakly, she came up and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I'm sorry he was so awful to you." Melissa whispered, resting her head on his chest.
Lucas smiled weakly and returned the hug. "It's not your fault, Mel… he's not exactly right in the head. He hasn't been since mom and Claus died."
Melissa nodded just a bit, listing her head up to look at him. "I know… I still wish I could fix it… fix everything."
"I know you do, but that's in the past, love. He's in jail. He can't hurt me anymore." Lucas kissed Melissa softly.
When she pulled back, she kept quiet. There really wasn't anything she could do. It was over, and she knew that. Yet, she couldn't help but feel like she should've done more.
"What's wrong, Mel?" Lucas asked softly, seeming worried. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, you didn't do anything." Melissa said softly, kissing his lips once again. "I'm just being stupid."
Lucas nodded tentatively. "Alright… let me know if there's anything I can do to help, okay?"
"I'll do that…" Melissa whispered, pulling back from the gentle hug. "There's just nothing you can do right now."
Lucas sighed softly and nodded. "Alright, love… let's head in, yeah?" He headed towards the door.
Nodding a bit as well, she climbed down the ladder with a weak smile up at him. "Are we planning on just going to bed?"
"Um… not necessarily if you don't want to. I can just keep drawing." Lucas climbed down after Melissa.
"But if you're sleepy, I don't wanna keep you up." Melissa insisted, walking over and sitting on the edge of her bed. "Even if it might not be the best idea to go to sleep right now."
Lucas shrugged. "I'm alright. I can stay up later." Lucas sat beside her with a soft sigh.
Melissa nodded a bit, resting her head on his shoulder. "Well, if you want to try and sleep, just tell me. I'll let you, if you need to."
"I'm honestly okay, Mel. You like watching me draw anyways." He smiled softly and rested his head on hers.
"Mmm… that's true… but your mental and physical health is more important to me." Melissa whispered just a bit. "I can't watch you draw, if you're not physically able to."
"True, true." Lucas laughed softly. "I really am okay, though. It's not even that late."
"Then I'll stop bugging you about it, I just wanted to make sure." Melissa hummed, lacing their fingers together. "Love you."
"Love you too." Lucas kissed Melissa gently and picked his sketchbook up. He flipped it open to the page he'd been on before, where he seemed to be drawing Melissa as she looked when she had her head in his lap.
Melissa glanced at the page, and then back up at him with a soft smile. "You were drawing me?"
Lucas flushed a bit and nodded. "Y-Yeah… I mean, I didn't know what to draw and… um… you were kinda there…" He stammered.
Listening to him going on, she leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his cheek. "Honestly, it just makes me feel special." She whispered.
Lucas blushed harder and looked away, unable to keep himself from smiling a bit. "I'm glad you like it, Mel… it's not done yet."
"Mm, well I still feel special." Melissa hummed, pulling back from him just a bit. "I really don't know why you'd want to draw me, though."
"Because, funnily enough, I find you attractive." Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully and booped Melissa on the nose.
Scrunching up her nose, she felt a blush creep up on her face. "I am not. I don't know what you're talking about."
"Are too. Stunning." Lucas grinned and returned to his drawing, adding details to Melissa's hair.
