“We’ll be lucky if that happens.” He grumbled. A second after that Jax walked out and back to the car.
“It’ll be just a second” He said with a grin.
“We’ll be lucky if that happens.” He grumbled. A second after that Jax walked out and back to the car.
“It’ll be just a second” He said with a grin.
"Welp, it's the lesser of two evils. Better one girl unable to walk in the morning than someone dead on the floor, right?"
He chuckled. “Yup something like that.” He waited before a girl and a guy walked out of the diner. Jax grinned “well well well. If it isn’t my favorite jerk.”
"Who are you talking to, me or Ethan?"
“Not you guys.” Jax said, gesturing towards the two new people who both looked very agitated.
"Shocker considering how much you claimed to hate us on the way here."
“Oh shut up.” He stepped forward, one hand on his hip and a grin on his face. “It’s showtime”
“What do you want Jax?” The guy called out with a scowl.
“Aw c’mon darling no need to be so cold.” Jax replied, chuckling.
"I think they've got plenty of reason to be cold considering they're dealing with you." She rolled her eyes with a smile.
Jax grinned and walked closer to the guy. “I heard you were trying to take some of my turf. Not cool man.”
“Our agreement is off Jax..you made sure of that.”
“Yeah. But if you keep trying to take my turf, my boys will get real violent.” He walked close, close enough to grab the front of the guy’s shirt. “I wouldn’t wanna hurt that pretty little face of yours~”
"Who are you calling little, shortstack?" She couldn't help but laugh. She loved being the peanut gallery.
The other guy seemed hella pissed off which only made Jax grin more. “Well then hot stuff I should be going.” He turned around, starting to walk away. “If you feel like stopping by, window’s always unlocked.” He got in the car and was biting back laughter.
"I feel like I was taking the words out of his mouth and I don't think he appreciated it."
He nodded before leaning up. “Floor it Ethan.”
Ethan grinned and quickly did so. Jax fell backwards, recovering enough to take his seat. “So Jax did you have fun messing with him?”
“Hell yeah!”
"And even better, no one's dead! Fantastic. I don't feel like being questioned by the police today. I've got enough shit to deal with on my own."
“True that” Jax agreed, leaning his head on her shoulder before letting out an aggravated sigh. “See he’s not even one of my fun ex-boyfriends. All grouchy.”
“You’re just mad because he won’t hook up with you”
“Yes Ethan that is why I’m mad! He may be a jerk but lemme tell you, he’s hot.”
"I second that statement. He was pretty damn fine."
“Yessss” Jax grinned. “Also congratulations on passing the not homophobic test.” He said, ruffling her hair. “You win….my respect and thanks I guess?”
“Sounds like a lame prize”
“Shut up Ethan.”
"Why would I be homophobic when I'm bi?" She giggled as she fixed her hair.
Jax let out a dramatic gasp before hugging her. “Yay! We got another one!”
She winced when he hugged her, feeling pain shoot through her. "Too tight, too tight!"
“Sorry sorry!” He quickly let her go. “I totally forgot, my bad.”
She rubbed at the wounds he had just squeezed back into pain with a slight smile. "It's fine, nothing I can't handle."
He felt bad. He’d literally completely forgotten.
She gently checked her ribs, knowing at least a couple of them were fractured. She didn't feel anything out of place and let out a sigh of relief. "Survived for another day."
“I’m sorry..” he grumbled again, pouting a bit.
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. I'm okay." She flashed a reassuring smile, unsure if she was trying to convince him or herself that she was okay.
“…if you say so..” he said softly, biting on his lip.
She was sure she was bleeding again and she knew she'd have to redress the wounds as soon as possible but she didn't say anything about it. She never did.
He was silent for a few seconds before of course speaking up again. “You sure you’re okay?”
"Positive. I'm just fine, don't worry about me." Well, about as fine as I can be considering how broken I am. You know I get abused at home and already found my broken wrist, I'm surprised you haven't checked for anything else that's broken…
