"Mmmm, but I don't want tooo…" Melissa pouted, kicking at the floor a bit.
"Mmmm, but I don't want tooo…" Melissa pouted, kicking at the floor a bit.
"Me either, but we'll manage." Lucas laughed softly and headed into the kitchen. "Where are we getting the pizza from?"
"Whatever place delivers. I really don't want to talk to people, so I might ask my dad if he can do it. We just gotta decide what we want." Melissa hummed, her shoulders sinking when she leaned against the wall.
"Alright." Lucas yawned a bit and leaned against the wall beside Melissa. "Should we call him down?"
"First, decide what we want," Melissa hummed, resting her head on his shoulder. "Then… probably call him down."
"I'm still not picky. Whatever you wanna eat, I'll eat it as well." Lucas grinned and lay his head against hers.
"Then why not just cheese? I'm honestly happy with the classic." Melissa mumbled, slipping her hand back in to his.
"Sounds good to me, Mel." Lucas's smile softened as he laced his fingers with hers. "Should we call down your dad now?"
"Mmmm, I like being close to you though." Melissa mumbled, slowly lifting her head. "But yeah… probably should."
"I enjoy it as well, but we do need to eat." Lucas reluctantly let go of Melissa's hand.
Melissa sighed, kissing his cheek. “Fine, I’ll call him in here.” Melissa hummed, leaning on the wall to yell up the stairs. “Dadddd!”
Lucas stayed where he was and snickered a bit as he watched Melissa.
Melissa pulled back and looked over at Lucas with a light smile. After a few seconds, her dad was making his way down stairs with a confused look. "Everything alright, hun?" Mr. Brennahan asked her worriedly. "Yeah- I was just gonna ask if you could order pizza."
Lucas waved to Mr. Brennahan politely, staying where he was for now and just letting Melissa do the talking.
"Oh, I mean sure. Though you know you're old enough to order your own food, right?" He asked as he pulled his phone out of his back pocket. "Yeah, I know. I just didn't feel like it, right now." Melissa shrugged, stepping up to the table, and pulling a chair out to sit on. "Just cheese?" Receiving a nod from Melissa, he called in and waited to hear from the other end. "Wanna sit in the living room?"
"Um… sure. Thank you, sir." Lucas said quietly so he wouldn't distract from the call, waving to Mr. Brennahan as he followed Melissa into the living room.
Once in the living room, she took his hand in her own with a soft smile. "You don't seem as anxious around him." Melissa noted, sitting on the edge of the couch.
Lucas nodded. "I think I'm tricking my brain into calming down a bit… or maybe I'm getting better at hiding it. I dunno."
Melissa nodded back, keeping up her smile. "Well whatever it is, you're doing a little better. Let's hope it's the first one though."
"Here's hoping." Lucas smiled weakly and looked over in the direction of the kitchen. They could still hear Melissa's father ordering the pizza.
"You can sit, Lu." Melissa told him, patting the spot next to her. "You're allowed to sit next to me."
"Mmkay…" Lucas sat down beside Melissa and tried to relax. He fidgeted a bit and glanced around nervously.
"Just breath. Nothing bad is going to happen." She insisted, reaching over a gently running her fingers through his hair. "I promise you."
Lucas nodded and sighed, his breath wavering slightly. He relaxed a little when Melissa started petting him and closed his eyes.
Smiling at him when he started to relax, Melissa continued to gently pet him. "You just need to relax."
"Mmmm…" Lucas gradually relaxed under Melissa's gentle touch, eventually becoming mostly calm. He was still a little tense and jittery, but he'd definitely improved.
As he had relaxed immensely, she started to pull back with a soft smile. "All better?" Melissa asked softly, resting her hand on his shoulder.
"I think so…" Lucas sighed softly and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "Thanks, Mel…"
"Of course… you're my best friend. I don't want you to feel nervous." Melissa whispered, kissing the top of his head gently.
Lucas nodded a bit, a weak smile growing onto his features. "Yeah… it's nice to have someone around who can actually calm me down. I'm still getting used to it."
