"Love you too~" Melissa hummed back, trying to keep from laughing. "It's a shame you don't like cats more. You act just like one."
"Love you too~" Melissa hummed back, trying to keep from laughing. "It's a shame you don't like cats more. You act just like one."
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully. "I like cats fine. I'm just partial to dogs since I grew up with one around."
"Mm, that makes sense. But you still act like one, though." Melissa insisted, leaning down to place a kiss on top of his head. "It's super sweet, actually."
Lucas flushed again and huffed, keeping his eyes firmly shut. "Noooooo…" He whined softly. "M'not cute…"
"Right, you're not cute. You're a tough bad boy." Melissa teased, lightly ticking the tip of his nose. "Nothing can take you out."
Lucas rolled his eyes and buried his red face in his hands. "Ah yes. I'm the exact definition of a 'tough bad boy'."
"Of course you are. What else would you be." Melissa hummed, still in a teasing tone. "I mean, if you're not cute."
"I… uh… I-I dunno. Somewhere in between, I guess?" Lucas shrugged, peering up at Melissa through the gaps in his fingers.
(Nah he's just cute lol)
Snickering a bit, she shook her head back and forth. "Mhmm, sure thing, Lu." Melissa responded with a slight eye roll.
Lucas flushed harder and hid his face again, groaning softly. "Why am I so hopeless?" He asked.
"You're not hopeless." Melissa insisted, pulling his hands away from his face. "You're a sweet guy. Just because you're not a tough jerk, doesn't mean people won't like you."
"I-I hope so… I want people to like me." Lucas sighed and looked up at Melissa weakly when she took his hands from his face.
Pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles, she smiled down at him. "I like you. And I'm sure a lot of other people do. You're more likeable then literally forty percent of the boys at school."
Lucas nodded and closed his eyes again, sighing softly. "I just try to be nice to people if I can… some people don't exactly appreciate it, though."
"Which I find incredibly stupid." Melissa shrugged, loosening her hold on his hands. "Okay, maybe not stupid. But people who are rude about it are unnecessary. There's a better way at asking someone to stop."
Lucas nodded again, lacing his fingers with Melissa's. "Yeah… sometimes people think I'm being sarcastic or something, you know? And they get all bent out of shape about it."
Nodding a bit at his statement, she held on to his hand tightly. "Well, if that does happen, you can just send me on them. I can adjust their attitude." Melissa said with a sweet smile pulling up on her lips.
"Mel, I wouldn't want to make you do that." Lucas pulled Melissa down to kiss her softly. "I'd be okay."
Smirking a bit, she kissed his lips. "Mmm… true. But just pretend with me here, for a minute." Melissa purred, kissing his face once or twice more before pulling away.
"Pretend what?" Lucas asked, his cheeks still lightly flushed. He looked up at her, his blue eyes wide with curiosity.
"That I can help protect you, so you won't get hurt." Melissa explained rather simply, gently running her thumb over his red cheeks. "That would be rather useful."
"Mm…" Lucas melted into Melissa's touch and closed his eyes. "I can protect myself, Mel…" He murmured. "But thanks for the thought. I'll be sure to call upon you in times of need."
So badly she wanted to argue, but it would be a sore subject that she had to bring up. And she wasn't going to be that petty. "Alright, Lucas. Just try not to get yourself stuck too many times."
"I'll try my best, Mel." Lucas smiled softly. "I really will. I'll just keep on being nice to people and I shouldn't be in any trouble…"
"We hope, at least." Melissa hummed, lifting her head back up. "But I'm sure you'll be fine. There's no reason for anything bad to happen."
"Right… I'm excited for baseball to start up again." Lucas smiled a little more brightly. "I haven't stayed in practice."
"Shouldn't you have?" Melissa asked, knowing that she had barely touch a piano since the end of the school year. "Well… I can't really talk."
"I mean, I can toss a baseball up in the air all I want, but I don't exactly have anyone to practice with." Lucas shrugged.
Melissa paused, knowing she should offer to help. "Well… if you promise not to hit me, I could try and help." She said softly, petting him the same.
"Why would I hit you?" Lucas asked, confused. "You know I wouldn't do something like that, right?"
