"I dunno, I was just making sure." Melissa hummed, picking up her pace so she could be walking in time with him.
"I dunno, I was just making sure." Melissa hummed, picking up her pace so she could be walking in time with him.
Lucas smiled softly and continued on, staying quiet until they reached the park. "Almost there, Mel."
Snapping back in to reality, she looked up at him. "Oh, okay. Sorry for spacing out there."
"No problem." He led her through the trees into their clearing, immediately relaxing when they arrived.
At seeing his relaxation, she felt more relaxed as well. "You really do love it here, don't you?"
"Yeah… I really do." Lucas sighed happily as he took in his surroundings. "Something about it just makes me feel… safe. I dunno."
"You don't need to explain yourself," Melissa insisted as she made her way over to the tree. "I was just stating my thoughts."
Lucas nodded, following her over and sitting on the ground again. "It's just so nice here, y'know?"
Sitting besides him, she nodded at his statement. "Yup. It's just a lovely place, with a lovely person to find it."
Lucas flushed and suddenly became very interested in the ground. "I-I… uh…" He stammered, not actually sure where his sentence was going.
Melissa smiled softly, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. "Relax. There's no need to be flustered." She hummed softly, pulling back a bit. "I was just saying the thing I always believe to be true."
"There never is a need to be flustered, is there?" Lucas sighed and rested his head on Melissa's shoulder. "I just can't help it…"
“Well, that is true.” Melissa hummed, resting her head on top of his. Sighing softly, Melissa hummed as she curled up closer to him. “But I want to make sure you’re not going to shut down on me.”
"Mm… unfortunately, I probably will. That's okay, though… you're always very good at fixing me." Lucas kissed Melissa softly.
“Mmm… that’s true. I love you too much to let you go coo-coo on me.” Melissa snickered, pecking his lips with a smile.
Lucas blushed again and whined softly, burying his red face in Melissa's shoulder. "This is gonna be fun, hmm…?"
"What is, love?" Melissa asked in a hum, adjusting her position with a soft smile. "I must have missed something."
"I'm especially… uh… sensitive to compliments today, it seems." Lucas laughed a bit. "I have a feeling I'm going to be red rather often."
"Well, then I'll be careful." Melissa hummed, kissing the top of his head with a smile. "I won't be excessive on my praising to you."
Lucas looked up at Melissa meekly, his cheeks still flushed pink. "Thanks, Mel…" He returned the smile with a soft sigh.
"If that's all you wanted, you just had to ask." Melissa hummed, resting her head a top of his. "I would have obliged. Maybe after a little bit of protest."
"I-I mean, it's not like I don't like it, Mel… believe me, I do, I just… can't help but kinda malfunction."
"And it's probably not any better right now. I understand, it's just rather natural for me to compliment others." Melissa shrugged a bit, starting to zone out.
"Mmmm…" Lucas hugged Melissa tightly and sighed. "I love you so much, Mel…" He murmured.
"And I love you, so much." Melissa whispered, starting to chew on her bottom lip. "I don't know how to tell you."
"How to tell me what?" Lucas asked, confused. He glanced up at her curiously, but didn't let go.
"How much I care. How much I love you." Melissa elaborated, wrapping one arm over his shoulders. Smiling at him, she slowly ran her fingers through his hair.
Lucas flushed again, but he couldn't help but melt into Melissa's touch as usual. "What happened to not making me malfunction, love?" He whined.
Melissa pouted a bit, continually running her fingers through his hair. "I'm sooooory. I didn't know." Melissa hummed, leaning in to nuzzle her nose against his.
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully and huffed, closing his eyes again. He relaxed into Melissa's touch and sighed contentedly.
