"Oh come on, it's just a little bit of harmless teasing. What damage can be done?" Melissa asked, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Oh come on, it's just a little bit of harmless teasing. What damage can be done?" Melissa asked, resting her head on his shoulder.
Lucas looked away, clearly pouting. "You're so mean to me, Mel." He whined playfully. "Always teasing, aren't you?" He kissed her cheek softly.
"I guess I am… if it ever actually bothers you, tell me so." Melissa hummed, tilting her head up so she could look at him. "I don't want to hurt your feelings."
"I'm perfectly alright, Mel. Well, a bit flustered, obviously, but I'm not grievously offended by your teasing."
"I just wanted to make sure." Melissa hummed, her smile not wavering. "You know, I really do love you."
"I love you too, Mel." He kissed her sweetly. "So much. I'm glad we finally fessed up."
Smiling, Melissa leaned in a bit more. "God so am I…" She sighed contently, her steps slowing down.
Lucas returned the smile and kept walking. "We really do need to get back, though."
Pouting a bit, she sighed weakly. "Fine… I don't want to though." Melissa mumbled, growing droopy.
"Mmm… me either, but we gotta go back to eat, Mel." He kissed her again to cheer her up.
The smallest of smiles tugged at her lips when he kissed her. "It seems silly… we don't really need to eat. We'll probably just come back here anyways."
"But we do gotta eat, Mel… we can come back here after we eat. It's alright." He smiled softly and kept leading her along.
"But Lu…" She groaned, resting her chin now on his shoulder. Finally just giving up, she slumped her shoulders in defeat.
"Nah ah, don't 'but Lu' me. You need to eat, and in going to make sure you do. Then we can come back and enjoy the park as much as you want."
"Fine, fine." Melissa sighed weakly, knowing she shouldn't argue with him. It was stupid, and futile.
"Now, chin up, mmm?" Lucas smiled softly and lifted up her chin with one hand. "Let me see that smile."
Rolling her eyes, she pulled up a soft smile to satisfy him. "Happy, now?" Melissa asked, keeping her smile up.
"Mm. A little." He kissed her softly and kept leading her along. "You know how I love to see your smile."
"Yeah… I do." Smile growing, she pecked his cheek softly before starting off ahead of him to pull him along. "Come on slow poke."
"I'm coming, I'm coming." Lucas laughed and allowed her to drag him along. "So impatient."
"Hey, wouldn't you rather have me dragging you along then refusing to go back?" Melissa asked, glancing over her shoulder to him. "Be honest with yourself."
"True. You're right as always, darling." Lucas grinned brightly, a light flush rising to his cheeks.
Rolling her eyes once more, she shook her head at his comment. "I am not always right." Melissa insisted, pushing branches out of their way so they could get back to the clearing.
"Mm. Sure feels like you are to me." Lucas couldn't keep from smiling at this point. He stopped walking and pulled her close to kiss her again.
Taken by a bit of surprise, she took a moment before leaning in. "Mmm… am not." Melissa mumbled, wrapping her arms around his neck loosely.
"Shh…" Lucas relaxed and kissed her again, still holding her close. "I love you, Mel…" He murmured.
"Love you too, Lucas." Face softening a bit, she fell quiet following his request. The feeling of peace was just so wonderful, she really didn't want to have to leave.
Eventually, Lucas just rested his head on Melissa's shoulder and sighed happily. "Sorry about that, Mel…"
"Please, don't be." Melissa whispered as she lightly rested her head on top of his. This was so much better then what she had imagined.
Lucas smiled softly and melted into Melissa's touch. "God, I hate to leave this place… I wish we could stay forever."
