Lucas rolled his eyes and nodded. "Yes, I can butter my own toast." He grabbed a knife and the butter and set down his soda.
Lucas rolled his eyes and nodded. "Yes, I can butter my own toast." He grabbed a knife and the butter and set down his soda.
"Mmm, I was just making sure. Don't take offense to it." Melissa hummed, grabbing a second knife to butter her own toast. "I meant no harm."
"I'm not taking offense, Mel. I'm just joking with you." Lucas smiled softly and started buttering the toast.
Smiling back, a slight sigh escaped her lips. "I really can't wait until we can move in together…" Melissa mumbled, day dreaming just a bit.
Lucas blushed a bit. "Yeah, me too… I-I mean, technically we're already living together, but you know…"
Melissa nodded, pulling out of her day dreaming state. "But it's different…" She insisted as she set the knife in the sink. "Having some place of our own…"
"Mhmm… it'll be nice." He sighed softly. "Just a couple more years, hmm?"
"Years? Before we move in together?" Melissa asked with furrowed brows, biting in to her breakfast.
"Well… yeah. We're only sixteen, Mel. We gotta be eighteen to legally own a place to live."
Groaning, she leaned back against the counter. "Why are there laws? That seems really stupid…" Melissa mumbled, pouting just a bit.
Lucas shrugged. "I dunno. I don't make the rules unfortunately, Mel." He finished buttering his toast and took a bite. "I'm sure it'll be fine."
"Wait- we can still get an apartment, right? That's not illegal?" She asked softly, brows still furrowed tight. Melissa didn't really want to eat, but she continued to make herself. The whole reason for the conversation, was to distract her so she would mindlessly do it.
He shrugged again. "Pretty sure it is. Gotta be a legal adult to be a homeowner, even if that home is an apartment."
"Nooooooo~" Melissa groaned once more, slumping her shoulders. "That's gonna be forever from now…"
"I'm sure it'll go by so quickly, Mel." Lucas hugged her and smiled softly. "We'll make it there. It's just gonna be a little longer than we'd like."
Still pouting, she sighed before hugging him back. "Fine, though I don't want to waste any time after you turn eighteen… unless you don't want to move in together." Melissa whispered, pulling back.
"I'd love to move in together, Mel… I'm turning seventeen soon, and then it'll be just a little more than a year."
"I just… I don't want to force anything on you, that you didn't sign up for." She continued to whisper, cupping his cheek to look into his eyes.
"It's fine with me, Melissa…" He kissed her softly and pulled away to continue eating his toast.
Face having turned a soft pink, she pulled back to continue with her food. "A-alright… sounds good…" Melissa mumbled, quietly eating.
Lucas soon finished his toast and started washing his plate, humming softly while he did so. "Your toast good?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's fine." Melissa whispered, eating the last little bit with a soft smile. "How's yours?"
"Pretty good." Lucas took Melissa's plate from her and started washing it as well. "We're going to the park again, right?"
"If that's what you want, of course. Let me get dressed, first though." Melissa hummed softly, wrapping her arms around his waist. "And tell my parents, of course."
Lucas nodded, blushing a bit when Melissa wrapped her arms around him. "Sounds good to me… I think it'll be good for me to be there. I'm still a bit jittery…"
Nodding just a bit, she pulled back after a minute. "You're not going to hurt yourself, while I'm changing. Right?" Melissa asked with a raised brow.
He shook his head. "I'll sit on the couch and wait for you. Or I can wait outside the door for you if you'd rather and just follow you around."
"Whatever you think is most suitable. I just can't have you hurting yourself again." Melissa mumbled, sighing fondly as she linked their fingers to pull him along. "Whatcha' gonna do?"
"I might just wait outside the door for you… just to make sure." He sighed as well, letting her drag him away. "Then you can pull me along wherever."
Smiling soft at him, she continued to lead him along upstairs. "You say that like it's a bad thing." Melissa teased as she silently walked up the wooden stairs.
