Taken aback, she found herself resting her head up against his chest. "O-Oh… alright. I can stay." Melissa smiled softly, her face turning a soft pink.
Taken aback, she found herself resting her head up against his chest. "O-Oh… alright. I can stay." Melissa smiled softly, her face turning a soft pink.
Lucas rested his head on Melissa's and closed his eyes, seeming content and relaxed for the moment.
Glancing up at him, she sighed softly. "Love you." Melissa told him softly, linking their fingers.
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas gently gripped onto Melissa's hand. "What time do we need to head out? It might be fun to climb up here before we go…"
"I dunno, I guess home before 5:30. Mom would flip if she hadn't heard from me for that long." She hummed, taking in a deep breath. "Is that enough time?"
Lucas checked his phone and nodded. "Yeah, that's enough time. You coming too or is it just me going?" He asked.
Biting into her lip, she glanced over to where he would climbing rather unsure. “I… I don’t know…”
"I'll take that as a no. Be right back, darling." Lucas kissed Melissa softly and handed her his phone so he wouldn't break it before he got up and headed over to the cliff.
“Be careful!” She called out, watching him nervously. “Please don’t fall and hurt yourself.” Melissa pleaded with him, pushing up off the ground.
"I'll be fiiiine." Lucas grabbed onto a rock in the side of the cliff and hoisted himself up, beginning to climb.
“Didn’t you say that before you got really hurt, last time?” Melissa asked in a holler, following him over to the cliff.
"Only once, Melissa! And that was because Claus pushed me!" Lucas kept climbing, seeming pretty solid and steady. "Well, on accident, of course."
Melissa was too worried about him, to notice how well he was climbing. If she took the time to relax, she’d probably be complementing him on his ability. “I-I know, it’s just really far.”
"I'm alright. No one's up here to push me this time." Lucas managed to make it up to the top and pulled himself up to sit on the edge with a pleased grin.
Sighing in relief, she put on her best smile to cover up her shakiness. You would think she had been the one climbing. “Yay, you made it. Now please, don’t fall off.”
"Well, I gotta come back down now." Lucas turned and found a foothold so he could start coming back down.
"You're killing me. Literally killing me." She groaned out, dropping her head in her hands. "I can't watch this, I already watched you go up."
"Then don't watch. I'll be down momentaril- woah!" The rock Lucas had put his foot on came loose and tumbled to the ground, leaving him struggling to keep himself up. He started sliding down the rocky cliff side, the rough stones digging into his skin.
At the sound of his uneasiness, she snapped her eyes up to where he was sliding downwards. “Lucas!” She screamed, after a sharp gasp. But there was nothing she could do, not until he hit the ground.
"I'm fine! I-I'm fine!" Lucas insisted, his heartbeat pounding throughout his entire body as he searched for something to hold onto. In his sliding, he finally managed to catch another foothold and clung to the rocks to keep himself steady. He breathed a quiet sigh of relief and looked up at the thin trails of blood he'd left behind on the rocks.
Tears were stinging at her eyes, but she let out a sigh of relief when he stopped. “L-Lucas, get down here before you get any more hurt!” She yelled you at him, holding a hand at her chest with her beating heart.
Lucas nodded and carefully made his way back down. He hadn't fallen for lack of being careful; a rock had simply fallen out from beneath him. After another few minutes of slowly climbing down, he finally reached the ground with a shaky sigh. He leaned against the cliff side while he examined the damage on his arms. He had several scrapes on his hands and forearms, some deeper than others, but all bleeding to some extent. He gently touched one of the deeper wounds and winced.
Melissa ran up to him, trying not to totally freak out in front of him. “Lu…” Melissa whispered softly, tilting his chin from side to side to check his face. Luckily it didn’t seem to have contracted any damage like his arm had. “We need to get you cleaned up. Aren’t you glad I told you to grab the medical kit?” She asked him, taking his arm in her hands gently.
"Y-Yeah…" Lucas sighed, letting Melissa take his arm. He was used to pain like this, but that didn't make it any more pleasant. His free arm fell to his side, blood trickling down his wrist from the wounds.
"We need to get you fixed up. Do you want to sit?" Melissa asked him softly, tilting his chin up gently. "It might be easier to sit." She whispered opening up the medical box to start fixing him up.
"Sure…" Lucas sat down on the grass with a sigh, holding his arms out to Melissa. He eyed the blood warily.
"You're gonna be alright, I promise you will." Melissa mumbled, pulling a small thing of rubbing alcohol from the bag. Along with it, she grabbed a cotton pad to start cleaning up his wounds. "I have to do this, but it's going to hurt. Tell me if you need me to stop."
"Alright, Melissa." Lucas bit down hard on his lip when Melissa started cleaning his wounds, and before he knew it, he'd done it again. He tasted blood again. "Dammit…"
"What's dammit?" She asked weakly, continuing to clean up his arms slowly. "Do I want to, or need to know?" Melissa was preoccupied with the immediate injuries, not taking a second to look up.
"Bit my lip again… sorry…" Lucas sighed. The rubbing alcohol stopped hurting that much once he got used to it, but his lip was still bleeding.
