"I'd like to see you try," Arsen said calmly. He glanced out the window, before blowing out a breath. Silvery magic floated around him before vanishing. "Have you been training for your entire life? I'm a Silversen. We train from the time we can walk. You'd have no chance against me."
"Fighting's not everything. Plus, you should be focusing on this Katrina girl instead of finding stupid ways to outdo your partner. She'll have both our heads on a platter if we slip up." she glanced up and gave him a pointed look through the rear view mirror
Arsen rolled his eyes. "I've learned how to avoid traps. I think I can handle her." He raised an eyebrow at her reflection in the mirror. "I know the Wolfes and the Clints. Indirectly, but I've seen them before. Katrina isn't anything special."
“That’s exactly what she wants you to think. I don’t think a girl graduating college at age 15 then suddenly becoming one of the nations top crime lord and enemy spy is anything to scoff at.” She held his gaze in the mirror for a bit longer before shaking her head slightly and looking back down at the papers. “Is there anything we should know that wasn’t mentioned in the papers that you might know about them?”
"Oh, lots of things," he said, waving his hand dismissively. "What do you want to know? Personal, or not?"
"Either one if it'll help with the case." she said, now the concept of new information abut the girl intreguing her. She set down her book and took out her headphones.
"When Katrina was about 8 years old, her older brother, Marcus, was in charge of an accounting company. He and their half-brother, Draven Wolfe, were fighting at the time, and Katrina was the one who helped stop them." He shrugged. "She's pretty smart."
"And nows she's skyrocket her brothers and herself into a top position withing the world's financial standing. Fantastic, so that means a heck-ton of security and protection from all angles." she took a deep breath. "lets hope our training has prepared us for this."
"It will," Arsen said confidentally. "I know it." He ran a hand through his hair. "We can prepare at the hotel. For now, we have a flight that I really want to sleep in."
"I think that's the first positive thing you've said that mentioned the both of us." Fallon laughed softly, giving arsen a teasing look through the rear view mirror "we'll need it, tonight's going to be a long one." She leaned back in the seat, glancing out the window as they approached the airport
"Well, if you're so sure you can help, then whatever. I'll pretend to include you." He rolled his eyes. "We have a long flight ahead of us." He got out of the car, grabbing his luggage from the trunk.
"I appreciate the consideration, even though most of is in your head." she got out of the car, thanked the driver and pulled her bag out of the trunk. Following Arsen through the airport and to the terminal, she scanned the area for any suspicious activity, a few people caught her eye but none of great concern.
Arsen either didn't notice her watching, or didn't care. He went into the building, not even bothering to look and see if she was following or not.
(Time skip?)
(Sure, till they get to the hotel or until the mission?)
Fallon settled into a seat across from Arsen, the pair being one of the only passengers in the first class section. She ordered a water for herself and settle into the large comfy seats to read a while
(You want to start, or do you want me to?)
Fallon glanced up at the building, tall and beige though it looked modern from the outside. Walking in, she smiled brightly at the lady behind the front counter and silently handed her the ID card that had been in the envelope along with the information. The lady took a bit to scan them in, her smile dropping slightly as she realized exactly who Fallon and Arsen truly were. SHe passed them back their cards along with two 'under no circumstance disturb' signs. "I do hope you enjoy your stay Miss Clove and Mr Lorcan." she gave them a slight nod and went back to work.
Fallon smiled softly and headed over to the elevator, pushing the up button and waited for the doors to open.
Arsen looked at the woman in amusement. She seemed almost frightened of them, which he could sort of see why. He and Fallon were part of the most prestigious school in the country, one of the System's top universities. And here were two young people, on such an important mission that they had to go by fake names.
It was fun, being in power.
He followed his partner to the elevator. The hotel was pretty big, and nicely decorated, the kind of hotel rich people would stay at just to show off their money. At least the System gave us a nice hotel, he thought. If they hadn't, he was pretty sure he would have just quit the task, no matter how much credit it could give him.
She stepped into the lavish elevator and pushed the number to their floor, almost at the top. She handed Arsen the key and sign to his door, not saying a word even after they had stepped out of the elevator and had reached their rooms, the doors next to each other on the same wall. She gave a two finger salute to Arsen "see ya tonight, don't be late." She disappeared into her room, breath taken at the simplistic beauty of the large space. She set her things down and walked around, peeking into the in room kitchen and the bathroom. She even had a balcony! to call this a generic room was an understatement, this was a suite! For all the university's flaws she had to admit they knew how to take care of their agents.
Arsen snorted. "I'm never late." He looked around his room. It was pretty nice, but not the nicest hotel he'd ever been in. He dropped his stuff on the couch in the main room and looked around. It was a fairly decent place, but there was a door separating his room and Fallon's, which made him annoyed.
After putting her things away instead of just having them in the bag, Fallon changed into her normal attire for missions, black shirt and jeans and long black coat the reached the floor. She set her bootable by the door and pulled her long hair up into a neat bun. Eager to be outside, she went to the balcony and pulled open the door, sticking a gasp as she saw the view. It was beautiful, the city scape outlined by the horizon, just as the sun was going down.
Arsen ran his hands through his hair and sat on the couch, pulling out his phone and scrolling through pictures. He could be getting ready, but he really didn't want to.
Fallon checked the time on her phone and sighed impatiently. two more hours until the mission. She shrugged off her jacket and pulled out a long-dagger from her bag, surprised it wasn't taken when they got to the airport. She turned on some music, something with a deep base, something she could train to. pinpointing a bookshelf as her target, she waited a bit to let the song seep in before starting her normal training.
Arsen put his stuff away and pulled out his laptop. He grabbed the mission information from his backpack and started to look up stuff about the target. Apparently she was one of the most talented people in the country… she had an older half brother, an older step brother, and a younger step sister. There were a lot of affairs in that family, then.
And then he saw it. After researching for about half an hour, he saw something that made his blood run cold.
Race: Weaver
Well, shit.
Weavers could see into the future, getting flashes of visions of what was to come. Well, that was just fantastic. How were they to figure out what to do now?
Fallon had finished her small training session after an hour and had slipped on her coat again, noticing a small door that she hadn't noticed before. She narrowed her eyes and walked over, seeing a light from the other room and frowned softly. No was she letting anyone come in her room in the middle of the night. She locked the door and slid a chair beneath the knob for extra security. Satisfied with her work, she grabbed her twin daggers as well as a gun and other weapons from her bag, keeping it light for now since tonight was more for learning the area and the person instead of a full on fight. She climbed up onto her balcony railing and made her way up the roof top, hiding in the shadows for now as she gazed out onto the city scape.
After some research, Arsen put his laptop away. He should probably tell his partner what he had learned… but nah. He really didn't want to at the moment.
Seeing that literally no one came up here, Fallon came out her hiding space and dangled her legs over the edge of the rooftop, humming softly as she waited for either Arsen or anyone else.
