"Why not?" Lucas asked, toying with Melissa's hair a bit. "If you get to use that excuse, so do I."
"Why not?" Lucas asked, toying with Melissa's hair a bit. "If you get to use that excuse, so do I."
"It's just not fair, you have to come up with your own excuse." Melissa hummed, sticking her tongue out at him. In all honesty, Melissa didn't care, but she was wanting to be difficult.
"Mm. And why's that?" Lucas asked, perfectly willing to be just as difficult as Melissa was being.
Pausing, she let a smirk grow on her lips. "Because you've stolen enough from me, you don't need to steal my words also." Melissa hummed, listing her head back up to look up at him.
"Mm. I could say you've stolen a good deal from me as well." Lucas kissed Melissa softly and grinned a bit. "Most notably my heart."
"Dang it, that's what I was going to say…" She pouted stopping on the sidewalk. Pulling him to a stop as well, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "You even steal my lines."
"Mhmm." Lucas hugged her tightly. "We're best friends, Melissa. I know how you think. Of course I'm going to steal your lines."
"But it isn't fair…" Melissa continued to pout, resting her chin on his shoulder. "You're stealing my words before I can even speak…"
"You gotta be quicker, then." Lucas teased, playing with Melissa's hair a bit. "You'll definitely fluster me then."
Pulling back, she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "Sounds good to me." She hummed, slicking his hair back with her fingers.
Lucas melted into her touch, smiling softly. It was pretty obvious by now that he liked having his hair played with.
Smiling sweetly, she pecked the tip of his nose. "Alright mister, let's get back before people come to look for us." Melissa hummed pulling him along.
"Alright, alright…" Lucas sighed and let Melissa drag him along. "I can't wait until we're eighteen…"
“Eighteen? Why?” Melissa asked rather confused, slowing down so she was walking besides him, not in front.
"Because then we could move out. Er… legally, that is." Lucas looked over at her and smiled softly. "We could do anything we want."
"O-Oh. There actually is context to that." She laughed lightly, swaying their arms back and forth. "But yeah, I can't wait either. Being adults has consequences though… responsibilities I mean."
"I mean, yeah… but look on the bright side! We don't have to deal with our parents all the time, we could get jobs we enjoy, get a dog, get… mental help… all sorts of fun things!"
"Mental help is a fun thing?" She asked with a light laugh, furrowing her brows together. "Though getting a dog would be fun. And I know mental help is something you need."
"Well, if I had mental help, I would enjoy the fun things even more!" Lucas grinned. "Just think of the possibilities!"
His grin was contagious, causing a small relaxed smile to pull at her lips. "Then that needs to be priority number one. It expands the possibilities, giving us more options later on."
"Well, jobs need to be the priority, really… we can't afford a therapist without any money… but that can't be too hard, right? I mean… I could do something with baseball?"
"Right, now I just need to come up with something…" Sighing, she took a moment to think in silence. There really wasn't anything she could do, not that she could think of at least.
"I'm sure you'll find something, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and kissed her cheek. "You're very talented."
"My talent isn't going to help me get a job. I don't think that's how that works." She hummed, leaning into the kiss he placed on her.
"Well, your talents will help you find a job that you're good at and enjoy."
Letting out a soft sigh, she gave up trying to argue by resting her head on his shoulder. "Let's hope so…"
"I'm sure they will… now, we need to get back to your house, hmm?" Lucas kept walking and hummed softly to himself.
"That's right… it shouldn't be too far from here." She smiled gingerly, glancing up at him from his shoulder. "You know… you're really attractive."
Lucas immediately flushed red and stammered incoherently for a couple seconds. "I-I… um… I'm… thanks…??"
“You really are though… your blue eyes pull me in whenever I look at them.” She hummed, not even thinking about how badly compliments flustered him.
