When Taran was 16 years old, Ferris was 18, and her younger sister Melinda was 14, her parents and her little sister were n their way home from parent-teacher conferences, and were hit by a semi truck. They were killed in the crash. In grief, Ferris went to go enlist in the army, and Taran was sent to live with her aunt and uncle, until she could go to college, and that's what she did. She paid for it easily, because her parents had left a large sum of money for her when they died. Her uncle took charge of her dad's company until Taran came of age. She learned martial arts growing up, and so as a part time job, she works with some kids, to train them. She doesn't really need a job, but she prefers to, because it makes her feel more responsible.
